(NARRATOR)>> TODAY ON DETROIT MUSCLE PROJECT HARD CHARGER GETS A KICK IN THE REAR. WE'RE DITCHING THE OLD LEAF SPRINGS FOR A NEW SUSPENSION. PLUS TOMMY GIVES THE DASH A FACELIFT WITH PAINT AND NEW HARDWARE.

(MARC)>> HEY FOLKS, WELCOME TO DETROIT MUSCLE. TODAY WE'RE GONNA BE WORKING ON OUR 1969 DODGE CHARGER PROJECT. NOW RECENTLY WE TOSSED UP A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT ENGINE OPTIONS AND WENT WITH THE HELLCRATE, AS WELL AS A T-56 MAGNUM SIX SPEED TRANSMISSION.

(TOMMY)>> WITH THIS OLD MOPAR HAVING THAT 707 HORSEPOWER SUPERCHARGED HEMI UP FRONT WE KNEW WE NEEDED TO MAKE SOME ADJUSTMENTS BACK HERE IN THE BACK. SO WE'VE GOT SOME BIG PLANS FOR THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THIS CAR. AND YOU KNOW WITH THIS CAR ALSO HAVING ALL THAT GO POWER WELL WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO ADDRESS THE WHOA ON THIS THING AS WELL.

(MARC)>> AND TO GET ALL THAT STUFF DONE IT'S GONNA TAKE THE COMPONENTS THAT YOU SEE AROUND ME HERE, LIKE AXLES, CENTER SECTION, A HOUSING, BRAKES, AND OF COURSE THE SUSPENSION. THE REASON WE DECIDED TO DITCH ALL OF THE FACTORY STUFF IS BECAUSE OUR BBODY MOPAR CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH A LEAF SPRING STYLE REAR SUSPENSION. THAT'S GREAT IF YOU'VE GOT A PICK UP TRUCK BUT IT'S REALLY NOT KNOWN FOR BEING THE BEST HANDLING, NOT TO MENTION IT'S HEAVY IN WEIGHT. SO WE DECIDED TO GO TO REILLY MOTORSPORTS FOR ITS STREET LINKS KIT. THIS IS A TRIANGULATED FOUR LINK DESIGN, WHICH IS GONNA PROVIDE BETTER GEOMETRY, AND THAT DRASTICALLY IMPROVES THINGS LIKE TRACTION AND HANDLING. THE KIT COMES WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO GET IT INSTALLED, INCLUDING THE CONTROL ARMS AND THE COIL OVERS. NOW WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT THIS KIT IS YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ANY CUTTING TO GET IT INSTALLED. YOU DO HAVE TO DO A LITTLE BIT OF WELDING THOUGH, AND THAT'S ON THIS PIECE RIGHT HERE, WHICH WE'RE GONNA INSTALL FIRST.

(TOMMY)>> WE WENT AHEAD AND REMOVED OUR REAR SUSPENSION AND OUR FUEL SYSTEM. THIS OLE CAR HAD A BUMP STOP LOCATED RIGHT OVER HERE, AND THAT'S ACTUALLY GONNA TELL US WHERE THAT BAR NEEDS TO GO. WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO SET IT UP HERE IN PLACE, DO SOME MARKING, AND A LITTLE BIT OF GRINDING.

(MARC)>> HEY YOU CAN GRIND OFF THAT PRETTY BLACK PAINT.

(TOMMY)>> YEAH I KNOW!

WE'LL TEMPORARILY PUT IT INTO PLACE, HOLDING IT WITH A COUPLE OF SCREWS THAT WILL GO IN THE FORWARD MOUNTING HOLES OF THE BUMP STOP THAT I MENTIONED EARLIER. WITH IT IN PLACE WE'LL MARK OFF THE FOUR HOLES AND THE PARAMETER OF THE BRACKET ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES.

NOW WE GET TO GRIND ON SOME OF THAT FRESH PAINT. LUCKILY IT'S BLACK. [ grinding metal ]

(TOMMY)>> HEY MARC, CAN YOU SMELL THAT FRESH PAINT? [ grinding metal ]

(TOMMY)>> THAT LOOKS PRETTY GOOD.

(MARC)>> NOW ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS BURN SOME WIRE USING OUR LINCOLN POWER MIG 220 MP. WE'LL DIAL IN OUR SETTINGS AND FUSE SOME METAL. [ welder crackling ]

(MARC)>> WELL NOW THAT THAT'S ALL WELDED IN WE CAN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT THING. THAT'S GONNA BE THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS. WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT THESE IS THEY'RE ADJUSTABLE AND THEY'VE GOT THE ZIRK FITTINGS HERE ON THEM, AND THEY MOUNT WITH THIS BRACKET RIGHT WHERE THE FRONT MOUNT OF THE LEAF SPRINGS WOULD HAVE BEEN. WE JUST NEED TO GET THEM IN.

[ drill spinning ]

(TOMMY)>> NOW THE NEXT STEP IN OUR KIT IS INSTALLING THESE BRACKETS ONTO OUR LEAF SPRING PAD. NOW WITH THE REILLY KIT YOU DON'T HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HOUSING, BUT WE DID FOR A COUPLE OF REASONS. ONE, YOU KNOW WE'RE MAKING 707 HORSEPOWER AND WE DIDN'T WANT ANYTHING TO FAIL. SO WE WANTED A NICE, STRONG UNIT. AND WELL WE'RE GONNA BE PUTTING SOME BIG GNARLY TIRES UP UNDER THE BACK OF THAT DODGE. SO WE NEEDED THE REAR TO BE A LITTLE BIT MORE NARROW. THIS IS AN ALL NEW UNIT FROM MOSIER ENGINEERING. IT COMES WELDED UP, READY TO GO. IT'S NICE AND HEAVY AT A QUARTER INCH THICK, AND WHETHER YOU'RE RUNNING A STOCK OR CUSTOM WIDTH, WELL THEY HAVE A TWO DAY TURNAROUND. SO THERE'S NO LONG WAIT. NOW HERE ON THE BEARING ENDS WE OPTED FOR AN UPGRADED PACKAGE BECAUSE, WELL FROM THE FACTORY THEY HAVE A TAPERED BEARING, AND NOW WE'RE RUNNING A SEALED BEARING. THERE'S NO ADJUSTMENT AND THESE ARE LEAK FREE. NOW AS FAR AS THE AXLE SHAFTS THESE ARE 25 TO 30 PERCENT STRONGER THAN THE STOCK UNITS. SO ALL THESE GOODIES PUT TOGETHER ARE GONNA BE NICE AND STRONG, WILL HANDLE ALL THE ABUSE THAT WE CAN THROW AT IT. LET'S GO AHEAD AND GET THIS BRACKET BOLTED UP SO WE CAN MOVE ON. THIS STEP IS PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD. THE BRACKET MOUNTS ONTO THE PAD JUST LIKE THE FACTORY LEAF SPRING. IT COMES WITH ALL NEW UBOLTS, NUTS, AND WASHERS. SO THERE'S NO NEED TO USE ANY OF THAT OLD RUSTY STUFF. WITH EVERYTHING FINGER TIGHT WE CAN ZIP THEM DOWN WITH THE IMPACT AND SHE'S READY TO SLIDE UNDER OUR CHARGER.

(NARRATOR)>> COMING UP, THE GUYS HAVE SOME MORE WORK TO DO UPGRADING THE REAR END. FOUR LINKS AND SHOCKS SHOULD MAKE THE CHARGER GLIDE OVER ANY BUMPS IN THE ROAD.

(MARC)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME BACK. WE'RE WELL ON OUR WAY, GETTING THE REAR SUSPENSION UNDER OUR MOPAR.

(TOMMY)>> THAT OUGHT TO WORK.

WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE HOLD UP?

(MARC)>> I GOT IT.

(TOMMY)>> AFTER GIVING MARC A HARD TIME ABOUT TAKING TOO LONG WE CAN SLAP OUR UPPER LINKS IN. WE'RE READY NOW TO LOWER THE CAR DOWN AND THAT WILL KIND OF BRING THE REAR UP INTO PLACE. WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO DO A SMALL AMOUNT OF MEASURING. WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO IS CENTER THE HOUSING UP LEFT TO RIGHT IN THE CAR, AND THEN AFTER THAT WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO SET OUR PINION ANGLE AND WELD ON OUR TABS. NOW THAT'S NEARLY AS COMPLICATED AS IT SOUNDS. SO LET'S GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED. MARC IF YOU WOULD LET THE CAR DOWN.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IS THIS BAR HERE PARALLEL OR CLOSE TO THE GROUND. KEEP GOING, KEEP GOING...

...KEEP GOING...

...ALL RIGHT.

ALL RIGHT, LET ME GET A MEASURING TAPE.

(MARC)>> ALL RIGHT, WE'RE IN. RIGHT AT SIX AND A QUARTER ON THIS SIDE.

(TOMMY)>> YEP, THAT'S WHERE WE'RE AT.

(MARC)>> ALL RIGHT.

(TOMMY)>> SO WHERE WE AT?

(MARC)>> ABOUT THREE AND A HALF DEGREES POSITIVE. OH, OH, THAT'S IT! NOW THAT WE'VE GOT OUR REAR END HOUSING WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE WE CAN WELD THOSE TABS TO THE HOUSING AND MOVE ON. GUESS WHO DREW THE SHORT STICK AGAIN? IT'S ALL GOOD, HE DOESN'T MIND. [ welder crackling ]

(MARC)>> WELL NOW WE'RE READY TO START INSTALLING OUR SHOCKS AND SPRINGS. WELL WE DECIDED TO GO TO RIDE TECH FOR THESE COIL OVERS. THIS IS FROM THEIR HQ SERIES, AND THESE ARE SPEC'ED SPECIFICALLY FOR OUR APPLICATION FROM REILLY MOTORSPORTS. THEY ARE SINGLE ADJUSTABLE BUT THEY'RE 24 WAY ADJUSTABLE ON THE REBOUND. SO YOU CAN TUNE THIS THING TO YOUR LIKING. ANOTHER THING IS RIDE TECH OFFERS A MILLION AND ONE MILE WARRANTY. SO YOU KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THESE THINGS FAILING. THIS LOWER COIL OVER MOUNT BOLTS TO THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BRACKET. THEN THE COIL OVER CAN BE INSTALLED UP TOP TO OUR CROSS BRACE.

WE'LL PUT POLE JACKS UNDER THE REAR AND LIFT IT UP UNTIL THE LOWER COIL OVER EYELET LINES UP WITH THE MOUNTING BRACKET. WE'LL START THESE BY HAND BECAUSE THESE LOWER MOUNTS ARE MADE OF ALUMINUM AND IT'D BE EASY TO CROSS THREAD THESE FINE THREADED BOLTS. ONCE THEY'RE SNUG WE CAN REMOVE THE POLE JACKS.

(TOMMY)>> WHILE MARC'S FINISHING BUTTONING UP THE REAR ON OUR DODGE I'M GONNA TELL YOU ABOUT THE BRAKE KIT THAT WE'RE GONNA BE USING. THIS IS THE WILWOOD SUPER LIGHT BIG BRAKE KIT. IT COMES COMPLETE WITH 13 INCH ROTORS, FOUR PISTON CALIPERS, BRAKE PADS WITH A HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPOUND, AND ALL THE HARDWARE YOU'RE GONNA NEED TO INSTALL IT. NOW THE FIRST THING TO GETTING THIS KIT ON, WELL WE'VE GOT TO BOLT UP OUR BACKING PLATE. SO LET'S GO AHEAD AND GET THOSE IN. NOW WHEN INSTALLING AFTERMARKET BRAKES SOMETIMES IT CAN BE A PAIN BUT WITH WILWOOD THEY'VE DONE ALL THE HARD WORK SO THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO, MAKING INSTALLATION A BREEZE. THEY MAKE PACKAGES FOR MOST APPLICATIONS, AND THEY LOOK GOOD TO BOOT. WE MADE SOME GOOD PROGRESS TODAY. WE'VE GOT OUR REAR END AND THE BRAKES ALL MOCKED UP WHERE THEY NEED TO BE, BUT WE STILL GOT TO PULL IT ALL BACK OUT, SPRAY ON A COAT OF SHINY, BUT I MAY LET OLE MARC DO THAT.

(MARC)>> NOPE!

(MARC)>> WHEN YOU'RE SWITCHING FROM AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO A MANUAL, LIKE WE ARE WITH OUR '81 COBRA PROJECT "SYDEWINDER", IT CAN FEEL LIKE A DAUNTING TASK BUT IT'S ACTUALLY USUALLY NOT THAT BAD, ESPECIALLY ON A FOX BODY LIKE THIS. OBVIOUSLY THE TRANSMISSION ITSELF HAS TO BE SWAPPED OUT, WHICH USUALLY BOLTS RIGHT INTO PLACE ON A CAR LIKE THIS ONE. THE SHIFTER'S GOT TO BE MODIFIED. THIS IS THE SHIFTER THAT CAME OUT OF THIS CAR, AND OBVIOUSLY IT'S NOT GONNA WORK WITH THAT MANUAL TRANSMISSION. SO WE TOOK THAT OUT A LONG TIME AGO. NOW THE NEW SHIFTER FITS IN THE HOLE HERE IN THE HUMP. THAT'S GONNA WORK REALLY WELL. ANOTHER THING IS THE DRIVESHAFT. WE'VE ALREADY GOT ONE ORDERED FOR THIS CAR, BUT ONE THING YOU MAY NOT THINK ABOUT UNTIL YOU GET KINDA FAR ALONG INTO THE PROJECT IS GONNA BE THE PEDALS. THIS THING ONLY HAS TWO PEDALS. A GO AND A WHOA. WE NEED THREE. SO WE NEED A CLUTCH. NOW THE BEST WAY TO DO THAT ON A CAR LIKE THIS IS TO JUST SWAP OUT THE BOX ITSELF, WHICH HOLDS THE PEDALS. I'M GONNA GET IT OUT OF HERE AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. [ drill spinning ]

(MARC)>> THE PEDAL BOX IS ACTUALLY NOT THAT HARD TO TAKE OUT, BUT IT IS A LITTLE BIT OF WORK TO GET TO IT. THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REMOVED.

AND WITH IT UNBOLTED WE CAN TAKE OUT THE COLUMN TRIM PIECE TO ACCESS THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTORS. WE'LL GET THOSE UNPLUGGED AND THE COLUMN JUST SLIDES RIGHT OUT.

WELL HERE ARE OUR TWO PEDAL ASSEMBLIES. THIS IS THE ONE THAT JUST CAME OUT OF OUR '81 COBRA. AS YOU CAN SEE IT ONLY HAS THE ONE PEDAL HERE. THIS IS THE OTHER. WE JUST GOT THIS FROM MUSTANG PART SPECIALTIES, OR MPS AUTO SALVAGE OUT OF GEORGIA. NOW NOT ONLY DOES IT HAVE THE CLUTCH PEDAL HERE, AND THE ROD, AND ALL THE HARDWARE FOR IT, BUT IT'S GOT THE OTHER PROVISIONS LIKE A CLUTCH SAFETY SWITCH. SO YOU COULD SWAP OUT SOME OF THE PARTS ONTO THIS ONE BUT OURS IS KIND OF DINGY ANYWAY. SO WE MIGHT AS WELL GO WITH THIS ONE. THE ONLY THING WE NEED TO DO NOW IS GET THE CLUTCH QUADRANT INSTALLED. TO INSTALL THIS ALL WE NEED'S A COUPLE OF SPACERS, THE QUADRANT ITSELF, AND THE PINS THAT HOLD IT IN.

THESE PEDAL BOX ASSEMBLIES ARE INTERCHANGEABLE. SO THIS ONE JUST BOLTS RIGHT IN WITH WHERE THE OLD ONE CAME OUT. JUST NEED TO REINSTALL THE HARDWARE. [ drill spinning ]

(MARC)>> WELL THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT. NOW IT DOES BOLT TO THE FIREWALL AS WELL. I'M NOT GONNA WORRY ABOUT THAT RIGHT NOW BECAUSE IT BOLTS THROUGH THE MASTER CYLINDER. WE'LL GET TO THAT LATER. I AM GONNA LEAVE THE COLUMN OUT BECAUSE WE'RE GONNA BE DOING SOME INTERIOR WORK. I'M GONNA PUT SOME CUSTOM GAUGES IN HERE. IT'LL BE A LOT EASIER TO PUT THEM WITH ALL THIS WIRING EXPOSED AND THE COLUMN OUT OF THE WAY. AND WE JUST NEED TO PUT A CLUTCH CABLE ON THERE AND THIS THING WILL WE READY TO GO.

(NARRATOR)>> DON'T GO AWAY. TOMMY GIVES THAT DINGY CHARGER DASH A FACE LIFT THAT KENNY ROGERS WOULD GAMBLE ON.

(TOMMY)>> HEY Y'ALL, WELCOME BACK TO DETROIT MUSCLE. WE'RE GONNA CONTINUE MAKING SOME PROGRESS ON OUR '69 DODGE CHARGER. WHAT WE'RE GONNA BE WORKING ON IS THE DASH. NOW THIS CAME OUT OF OUR CAR AND OBVIOUSLY IT NEEDS SOME ATTENTION. WE'RE GONNA CHANGE THE COLOR OF IT, SWAP OUT SOME OF THE COMPONENTS, BUT THE FIRST THING WE'VE GOT TO DO IS STRIP IT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE BARE BONES SO THAT WE CAN SPRAY ON SOME COLOR. ALL OF THIS OLD, DINGY STUFF HAS SEEN ITS BETTER DAYS. WE NEED TO REMOVE ALL THE TRIM AND HARDWARE, MAKING SURE TO GET EVERY PIECE OUT OF THE WAY THAT WE DON'T WANT TO PAINT. WE'RE ABOUT THERE.

THE PREVIOUS OWNER ADDED SOME EXTRA GAUGES THAT WE WON'T BE REUSING, AS WELL AS LEAVING US HIS OLD SMOKE STICKS IN THE ASH TRAY.

MOST OF THESE COMPONENTS ARE COMPLETE JUNK. SO THEY'RE GOOD CANDIDATES FOR OLD FILE 13, OR THE GARBAGE CAN. NOW THIS STUFF IS EASY TO REMOVE. IT'S JUST A BUNCH OF SPEED NUTS. SO DISASSEMBLY IS A SNAP.

NOW STEP BACK AND HOLD YOUR BREATH. WE'RE GONNA BLOW OUT 50 YEARS OF GRIME. WITH IT DOWN TO THE BARE FRAME WE CAN CLEAN HER UP WITH A LITTLE WAX AND GREASE REMOVER. ALL RIGHT GUYS, THE NEXT STEP TO OUR PROCESS IS THE MOST EXCITING, THE SANDING. NOW I'M KIDDING ABOUT ALL THAT. WHAT WE'RE GONNA BE DOING IS USING A DA HERE ON THE FLAT SPOTS, AND THEN ALL THOSE NOOKS AND CRANNIES THAT WE CAN'T REALLY GET TO WE'RE GONNA USE ONE OF THESE SCUFF PADS. NOW Y'ALL JUST SIT BACK AND ENJOY YOURSELF WHILE I DO ALL THE WORK. USING SOME 220 GRIT PAPER, WHICH HAS PLENTY OF TOOTH, MAKES SANDING THIS OLD FRAME SMOOTH AN EASY JOB. THIS PAINT IS RELATIVELY THIN. SANDING THROUGH IS NO BIG DEAL. WE'RE JUST LOOKING FOR A NICE SMOOTH SURFACE WITHOUT IMPERFECTIONS.

WHAT THE OLD DA COULDN'T GET TO WE'LL SCUFF DOWN WITH A SCRATCH PAD, PREPPING OUR SURFACE FOR PRIMER AND PAINT. NEXT WE'LL MIX UP SOME EPOXY PRIMER, POUR IT INTO THE GUN, AND WE'RE READY FOR THE BOOTH.

WE'VE GOT OUR DASH ALL CLEANED UP AND WE'RE READY TO START SPRAYING. NOW WHAT WE'RE GONNA BE SPRAYING ON IS A COUPLE OF COATS OF EPOXY PRIMER FIRST, AND THEN FOLLOW THAT WITH SOME BRIGHT RED PAINT FOR OUR INTERIOR COLOR. NOW FROM THE FACTORY THESE OLD MOPARS HAD A SOFT TOUCH PAINT ON IT. NOW WE'RE NOT GONNA BE SPRAYING THAT ON, BUT IT'S GONNA HAVE THAT SAME KIND OF SEMI GLOSS FINISH TO IT. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR HERE IS A COUPLE OF NICE, EVEN COATS, MAKING SURE TO COVER ALL THE CRACKS AND CREVICES.

YEAH WE KNOW YOU WON'T SEE THE BACK SIDE OF THE DASH BUT HECK, IT SURE DOES MAKE IT LOOK A LOT BETTER.

AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF FLASH TIME WE'RE READY TO MIX UP SOME COLOR. MAN THAT'S RED.

THERE'S NO DENYING THAT THAT BRIGHT RED IS GONNA BE AN ATTENTION GETTER, AND UP AGAINST THAT BLACK PAINT IT'S GONNA LOOK LIKE A MILLION BUCKS. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT INSIDE THAT MEAN CHARGER.

(MARC)>> YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC CARS OF THE MUSCLE CAR ERA IS THE '69 DODGE CHARGER, AND ITS UNIQUE GRILL DESIGN IS AS HARD TO FIND AS IT IS ICONIC, UNTIL NOW. THIS IS THE OER REPRODUCTION FROM CLASSIC INDUSTRIES. IT'S MADE FROM A HIGH PRESSURE INJECTION MOLDING LIKE THE FACTORY ORIGINAL. THE SET INCLUDES THE CENTER GRILL, OUTER GRILL SURROUNDS WITH FACTORY STYLE HEADLAMP DOOR BRACKETS, AND THE HEADLAMP DOORS. LIKE THE ORIGINAL IT COMES WITH EMBLEM PIN LOCATION. SO YOU CAN APPLY WHATEVER TRIM LEVEL OPTIONS YOU'D LIKE.

(NARRATOR)>> UP NEXT, TOMMY BUTTONS UP THE DASH FOR OUR CHARGER.

(TOMMY)>> HEY Y'ALL, WELCOME BACK. WE'VE GOT OUR DASH SUPPORT ALL PAINTED AND IT TURNED OUT PRETTY NICE. NOW WE'RE GONNA CONTINUE PAINTING JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE, BUT IT'S NOT GONNA BE ON SOME HARD PARTS. IT'S ACTUALLY GONNA BE ON SOME SOFT PIECES. WHAT I'M REFERRING TO IS LIKE THE DASH PAD AND THE VENTS. NOW WE GOT THESE FROM CLASSIC INDUSTRIES AND THEY'RE GONNA BE PRETTY MUCH A CINCH TO COAT, AND AS FOR THIS PIECE IT'S AN UGLY DUCKLING. NO ONE REPOPS THIS PART. SO WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO REFURBISH IT, BUT IT'S NOT GONNA BE THAT BAD. WITH SOME HOT WATER AND DISH SOAP WE'RE GONNA BE REMOVING YEARS OF DIRT, GRIME, AND INTERIOR GOO THAT'S BEEN APPLIED TO THIS POOR THING. GOOD NEWS IN ALL REALITY IS THAT DUDE DIDN'T SPEND A WHOLE LOT OF TIME PREPPING IT TO MAKE THAT CHEAP PAINT STICK. SO IT COMES OFF PRETTY EASY.

AS FOR THESE NEW PIECES THEY USUALLY HAVE A RELEASE COATING THAT NEEDS TO BE REMOVED. A QUICK SCRUB WILL DO THE TRICK.

NEXT A WIPE DOWN WITH SOME ACETONE WILL MAKE SURE THAT WE GOT ALL THE CONTAMINANTS, AND BE SURE TO CLEAN YOUR EDGES AND SEAMS. WITH EVERYTHING ALL CLEAN AND DRY WE'RE READY TO APPLY SOME ADHESION PROMOTER. WE'VE GOT A WIPE AND SOME SPRAY THAT WE'RE GONNA PUT ON. AFTER THAT WE CAN GET ALL THESE GOODIES IN THE BOOTH AND SPRAY ON SOME COLOR. WHEN PAINTING INTERIOR PARTS LIKE THIS IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO USE SOME ADHESION PROMOTER. WITH THIS PRODUCT ALL THAT IS REQUIRED IS A SINGLE EVEN WIPE DOWN FOLLOWED BY A QUICK SPRAY. THEN WE CAN MOVE TO THE BOOTH. WE'LL TOP OFF THESE PARTS WITH THE SAME BLOOD RED PAINT THAT WE USED ON OUR OLD DASH FRAME.

WE'RE MAKING SOME PRETTY GOOD PROGRESS REBEAUTIFYING THE DASH IN OUR OLD '69 CHARGER. NOW IF YOU REMEMBER BACK WHEN WE WERE TAKING THAT OLD THING APART IT WAS IN PRETTY BAD SHAPE. SO WE WENT TO CLASSIC INDUSTRIES AND GOT US SEVERAL NEW ITEMS. CHECK OUT THIS NEW DASH BEZEL. THIS THING IS A WORK OF ART. WE ALSO GOT US A NEW LENS FOR THE GAUGES, A RADIO BEZEL. HECK WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE ONE OF THESE. A KNOB KIT CAUSE YOU WANT ALL YOUR SHINNIES TO LOOK GOOD. A RADIO CAUSE YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE TUNES IN AN OLD CAR, AND A DASH PAD. NOW THEY OFFER THESE IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT COLORS, AND LUCKILY FOR US THEY HAD IT IN RED. SO ALL WE'VE GOT TO DO IS BOLT THIS THING ON. NOW TO PUT THIS THING BACK TOGETHER WE FOLLOWED THE OLD TEXT BOOK ADVICE, AND THAT IS JUST REVERSE THE STEPS OF DISASSEMBLY FOR REASSEMBLY. WELL KIND OF. I FORGOT MY TEXT BOOK AT THE HOUSE. SO WE'RE JUST GONNA WING IT.

THESE QUALITY PARTS HAVE DRASTICALLY IMPROVED THE APPEARANCE OF OUR DASH, AND THEY MADE ASSEMBLY EASY AS PIE, AND I DEFINITELY LIKE ME SOME PIE. WELL ALL OF OUR EFFORTS DID A WHOLE LOT OF GOOD. CHECK THIS THING OUT. OUR ORIGINAL DASH WAS ALL BROKEN, PAINTED, SCRAPED UP, PRETTY TRASHY. NOW THIS THING'S LIKE NEW MONEY. MAN I LIKE THAT.
