Today on Muscle car project. Street Fighter comes together for the last time, then heads out looking for trouble. Learn how window tint is applied. Plus we're slamming gears in an old built to take on the GTO.
Hey, welcome to Muscle car. We've got hundreds of hours into building a project Street Fighter for UF CS President Dana White. I'm gonna drive this
all the time. Yeah, he's ready to get behind the wheel and we're almost ready to hand over the keys.
But before that can happen, we got to tie up some loose ends. Shaker needs to be dropped on the engine needs to be fired up and the interior needs to be finished. But don't think we're just gonna hand him over the keys without giving it a quick spin around the block because we need to give it a test drive to make sure it's safe.
This baby's come a long way since muscle car took it in.
After installing all new suspension and plenty of bracing. We test fit the full 46 pack engine and 727 Torch flight.
The 2.5 inch exhaust was finished out with custom exhaust tips. Then we added the Ka
Louvers, a shaker hood and rear spoiler. One of a kind paint and graphics gave Street Fighter a whole new attitude and we added a sweet custom entertainment system to match
the pre
fitting on the hood has already been done. So dropping it on and bolting it up is a no brainer
and to fill that big old hole in the hood, the shaker scoop is going on for the last time.
There's still a couple of holes that we gotta fill and that's where the hood pins are going. Year one makes these Mopar factory style complete assemblies and they nailed it because they line right up
with those installed. The exterior is done and now it's time to stuff the rest of the guts into this fish.
These are the original seats and we sent them out to legendary auto interiors for some fresh vinyl. They even re stitched them, transforming them from the less desirable Barracuda seats into high dollar cua
seats.
Year one's replacement panels will finish out the interior along with new window cranks and original door handle.
Project Street Fighter is looking awesome inside and out, but there's something missing.
Now, you gotta remember. This scene is gonna be living in Las Vegas and that means a lot of desert and a lot of sun. So to keep those UV rays for beating up on Dana, these windows need some tent.
So CJ from solar solutions is gonna come in. Give us a hand. I appreciate it, man. You're very welcome. What's your plan for this thing? And we're gonna put 20% film all the way around, put a strip across the top. Keep them guys cool inside. Right on. Sounds good. Well, you're the expert. I'm not. So I'm out.
It's a pretty simple process, but many people are surprised to see it starts by laying film on the outside of the windows. It's easier to cut the pattern this way and remove the backing. Once it's ready to stick down
a
few passes with the Squeegee gets all the wrinkles out, then the edges are trimmed,
that's all there is to it.
Once the piece is cut and trimmed, the inside of the glass gets a good cleaning and is wetted down with soapy water to help the tint float over the glass for easier positioning.
The back end is peeled off the tint and it also gets a coat of soapy water before being placed in the position.
The Squeegee gets all the air bubbles and water out and then it's time to dry
the back window. Well, it uses pretty much the same process, but because of the compound curve of the glass, a heat gun is used to form the plastic tent into the shape of the window.
Some trimming gets the edges cleaned up, then he's back to the inside to stick it down.
This visor strip will keep the sun out of Dana's eyes as he's tearing up the Nevada desert. Plus it just looks good.
Some heat along the edges of the door tent. Make sure they're gonna stay in place and a razor bubbles the edge for a finished look.
Oh,
dude, that makes it right there. That is perfect. Absolutely. It's a beautiful car. Now, I'll tell you, I've tried window tinting before and you just made that look a whole lot easier than it really is. I know that you can do it. Anybody can.
Hey, I appreciate you coming out and taking care of it for us. Absolutely. Yes, sir. Right on. Well, hey, I'll see y'all, man. I got a car right here in the parking lot. We're gonna hook you up with
coming up. Project Street Fighter is ready to roll and we're riding along with Rick and Tommy on the test drive.
We know the Kuda looks good, but it's time to see if this fish will swim. Rick fired up.
Come on.
Well
again.
Oh, yeah.
Sounds good. I did the ro
the interior turned out sweet. This thing in for a daily drive.
Not only that it could be a shelf car if you really want
to.
Well, the cool thing about it, there's actually like five people involved in the interior. There's year one of the door panels, heaviest customs for the, for the headliner, the legendary auto interiors that hooked us up with the nice seats
and Nate did the console, there's Grant steering the wheel. There's, I don't know, five or seven different companies that put this interior together and it works together perfect.
But you know what I really like about this thing,
other than the fact that we're in it,
let the glass sounds, kill it.
That sounds good.
Cruising on the back roads is fun. But we needed to unleash this 440. So we hit the highway
with the XB motor sport suspension. It rides like a dream. This car would be just as much at home on the track as on the street.
It's hard to believe that this is the same slant six Puke Green grocery getter. We started with
this car.
Is that every day.
Can you take it? Not?
And it is cool. Thanks to details like the shaker hood, Louvers custom painted grill and brush, nickel bumpers, advanced plating did for us, rear spoiler and blacked out tail panel. Yeah. And those foose wheels don't exactly hurt either. The graphics do their job looking black when they're supposed to.
We made a pit stop for some grub and it caught the eye of the next generation muscle car fan.
Finally
have this car should be
crowd and, and
one day when I get off work, take it for a test drive and have fun. That's right. That's what the person's supposed to do with these things and enjoy them. That's right.
So someone's gonna get this back Yeah, this one belongs to uh the president of UFC Dana White. You're not serious. For real, man. This is his.
Oh, cool, man. I like watching UFC. It's pretty awesome.
I like it. I like uh the paint job you guys did with it.
Yeah, it's a simulated carbon fiber Rick.
Come up with a concoction for that.
Is that like dual
punk or what?
I wish I could look at a couple of three like maybe about, I don't know, a
million
say here go buy you another car. I'm taking this one
project. Street Fighter still has a full tank of gas and is big and for some more black top. So we pointed it towards the local car show and cracked open that six pack. Look out muscle car fans. Here we come
after the break, find out how the old 442 got its name.
And later we're headed to a place where the Ka
feels right at home.
Today's flashback in 1964 Olds 442,
Oldsmobile practically invented the muscle car concept in 1949 when it crammed its big Rocket V8 into a small car.
Over the next decade
olds touted the rocket cars and proclaimed this is where the action is,
but it wasn't until 64 that olds actually got some real action.
Pontiac had just had an unexpected hit with the GTO
and those three letters spelled trouble for all would be challengers.
Olds was the first to take it head on with a three digit muscle car.
The 442
olds took their mid size F 85 cutlass and added a brand new option officially known as the bo nine police apprehend or pursuit package.
As you can guess it was originally designed for cops, but now anyone could order it.
The numbers were code for this
four barrel carburetor,
four speed shifter
and dual exhaust.
Those three numbers added up to one wild ride, we give it a 10.
The package also beefed up the suspension with heavy duty shocks, higher rated coil springs and a larger front, rear anti sway bar.
All that plus a stiffened frame with box rear control arms, oversized brakes and bigger wheels and tires helped during this car reputation as the best handling muscle car.
The 442 also got a re tuned rocket 338
by throwing in a high lift cam, heavy duty valve gears and a dual snorkel air cleaner
old squeezed out 20 more horse for a total output of 310.
It wasn't quite up to the gto's 348 horsepower but it could still rocket through a quarter mile in the mid 50 s and hit 60 in 7.4 seconds
overall. It was only about a second slower than the goat. What it lacked in speed is made up for with agility on the road.
The 442 package was available on any of the F 85 models except the station wagon.
This is the high end cutlass holiday coup which is loaded with bucket seats
attack
and some trick knock off style wheels.
The only warning this wasn't an ordinary cutlass was the,
their badges on the side and rear deck lid.
Now, the car didn't arrive in showrooms till three quarters of the way through the 64 model year. It was a hasty response to the GTs runaway success and Olds did a lousy job promoting it.
One ad showed cops riding in a four door sedan,
not exactly what the young crowd was looking for.
Amazingly, they still managed to sell about 3000 old's got its act together in 65 and output increased to 25,000. It was the start of one of the longest running nameplates in muscle car history.
Over the years, the meaning of 442 kept changing as options like automatic transmission, trip, power and a 400 cubic inch motor were added
by 1990. The numbers meant four cylinder,
four valves and two camshafts. Oh man, a far cry from its muscle car roots.
Thankfully, we've still got survivors like this to make sure we don't lose that number
up next sun. Fun cars and fans project street fighters ready for the spotlight and we found just a place to show it off.
Project street fighter running like a champ and it's been getting a lot of attention.
We're rolling into Lawrenceburg, Tennessee for the Lawrence County Classic Car Club show. To see what these folks think of our creation.
There's all kinds of rights here and muscle cars seem to be the favorite. So the could have fits right in.
I don't know if it's legal or not. It's not. But let's ewing find us a race or something. Rick, what you
say? Hell yeah,
there's a model a right there. I think we can take it. We can take that model. A, you're right.
There's muscle car fans of all ages here and street fighter definitely seem to be a hit.
And I gotta tell you
it's fun to get out of the shop for a while and talk to some fans.
Hey,
buddy.
Yeah, I'm jealous. I want me a wagon.
I dig them
over there. The blue car.
That's what drove
that
drove a T bucket.
Nothing wrong. Driving a T bucket.
Y'all get a little bit better budget.
I'm on Johnny Cash Bud.
They won it last weekend.
I'll give you 50 bucks for it right now.
You didn't pay nothing for it.
Actually, I'm a ford person but
that a LS motor is about to change me. I think
all those Ls motors there.
Thank
you.
Got the right license plate on it
all the time,
all the time. It's the only way to drive them. Right. That's what they're for.
One thing that seemed to get a lot of attention was the carbon
look paint. What, what, what actually do you use when you do that?
Well, I use the, the gray that's on the rest of the car. That's actually the background and we laid down that mat, he just laid some black through it and then I mix up some black candy and shot that over the top. Yeah, that's pretty sharp. I was gonna try that.
He learned how, by watching y'all show,
he went out and done it on his boomerang. He took, he took a thing that we had in the kitchen
and,
and he took it out back and, and
laid it up on there and he, he just barely sprayed over it and he
hearing the people are learning new things from watching the show makes all that hard work, worthwhile. Speaking of hard work, all of this, hanging out posing and looking at cool cars. What's given us quite an appetite and I'm always looking for a free lunch. Tommy has a plan to get one out of our director.
Hi, Michelle. I got a deal for you.
Lunch on me today. If you can find where you put gas in this thing at.
Hm. Well, one would tend to, uh, head to the back.
You're not in there
and look,
I
don't know, I guess you're buying lunch today.
You got me.
This is where it's at.
Oh,
how cool is that?
That's awesome.
Hey, Rick, you wanna take a hot lap and see what's at the show.
Yeah, it works for me. Good deal.
There's a lot more here than just muscle cars.
There's all kind of killer rides.
Street Fighter may be a, one of a kind, but we saw dozens of unique creations
and if you like resto mines or
sts,
those are here too.
It's almost time for us to hit the road for Vegas. But these guys wanted one more chance to get some snaps so the road can wait for just a little while.
Your
picture made with this uh
Barracuda,
the muscle car show on Spike
TV.
We're looking for you.
This shows you who the real celebrity is. She wants a picture of herself with just the car.
How you doing, buddy?
I
think people dig it.
We've had a good time here in Lawrenceburg today. I met a lot of great people and saw a lot of nice rides, but as they say,
all good things must come to an end.
Hey, Rick, man, there's a lot of cool stuff here today and I'm sure there's some stuff we missed. But if we're gonna get this dude to Vegas, we're going to get on the highway. Yeah, you're right. We got a lot of miles to put underneath these wheels, man.
Well, hey, for this week we're out of time. So until next time we're out of here.
Get your motor running.
Hey,
hey, man, I hope you got the gas carter. We got a lot of hours ahead of us. Yeah, we got the gas car and there ain't no lemon on it either. Uh Oh,
yeah.

Uh Oh,
yeah.
