(RYAN)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME TO TRUCKS. TODAY WE'RE WORKING ON THIS 2011 DODGE 2,500 WITH A SIX POINT SEVEN LITER CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL UNDER THE HOOD.
NOW THIS IS A THREE QUARTER TON TRUCK AND IT'S DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED TO DO WORK AND HAUL A LOT OF WEIGHT. IN FACT, THEY DESIGNED THE TRUCK TO SIT HIGHER IN THE BACK THAN IN THE FRONT. SO ONCE YOU ADD A LOT OF WEIGHT TO THE BED, WELL THE TRUCK SITS NICE AND LEVEL AND THE HEADLIGHTS DON'T POINT AT THE SKY, BLINDING ONCOMING DRIVERS. BUT WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING AROUND UNLOADED, WELL IT JUST LEAVES YOU RIDING AROUND WITH A STINK BUG STANCE, OR A RAKE. SO WHAT A LOT OF GUYS DO, AND WHAT THIS GUY DID, WAS ADD A LEVELING KIT TO LIFT UP THE FRONT TO MATCH THE REAR SO IT SITS NICE AND LEVEL. IT AFFORDS YOU THE ABILITY TO RUN SOME 35 INCH TIRES
AND JUST PLAIN LOOKS COOL. BUT ONCE YOU DO ADD A LOT OF WEIGHT, ONCE YOU'VE LEVELED OUT THE FRONT, WELL IT CREATES A PROBLEM. HERE'S WHAT IT DOES.
(KEVIN)>> THE YELLOW AND BLUE STRIPE IS NOT US RESTYLING THIS TRUCK. IT'S A MEASUREMENT OF 54 AND SEVENEIGHTHS INCHES FROM THE FLOOR AT RIDE HEIGHT. BY DROPPING 1,000 POUNDED ENGINE INTO THE BED OF THE TRUCK BRINGS IT TO 52 AND THREEEIGHTHS.
(RYAN)>> NOW ONE SOLUTION TO THAT PROBLEM WOULD BE TO INSTALL SOME EVEN STIFFER REAR SPRINGS OR SOME REAR LIFT SPRINGS. THAT WAY ONCE YOU ADD A BUNCH OF WEIGHT TO THE BED THE TRUCK SITS LEVEL. BUT UNLOADED YOU'RE GONNA BE BACK TO THAT STINK BUG STANCE AGAIN AND BACK TO SQUARE ONE, PLUS YOUR RIDE QUALITY WOULD SUFFER. SO AN EVEN BETTER SOLUTION WOULD BE TO INSTALL SOME SORT OF LOAD LEVELING SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS THE EXTRA WEIGHT
ONLY WHEN YOU NEED IT.

AND IT'S A COMPLETE NO DRILL KIT WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR A VERY CLEAN INSTALLATION, INCLUDING SCHRADER VALVES TO FILL BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT AIR BAGS. NOW THESE SYSTEMS ARE AVAILABLE FOR JUST ABOUT ANY TRUCK ON THE ROAD. THIS ONE WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR OUR BIG 2,500, BUT THESE KITS, WELL THAT'S NOT ALL FIRESTONE HAS TO OFFER. ACCESSORIES LIKE THIS NO DRILL MOUNTING KIT, WHICH GIVES YOU THE NICE FRAME RAIL LOCATION FOR THINGS LIKE AN AIR COMPRESSOR, AN AIR TANK, OR OTHER FIRESTONE ACCESSORIES. BUT ONE OF THE COOLEST THINGS WE'RE GONNA BE INSTALLING
TODAY IS THE HEAVY DUTY REMOTE AIR COMMAND SYSTEM. IT FEATURES A WIRELESS CONTROLLER, THE VALVE BLOCK, A WIRING ELECTRICAL HARNESS, AND OF COURSE THE COMPRESSOR, MAKING THIS A SELF CONTAINED SYSTEM. BUT ONE OF THE BEST FEATURES IS OF COURSE THE WIRELESS REMOTE, WHICH ELIMINATES THE NEED TO PLUMB EITHER AIR LINES OR ELECTRICAL LINES UP INTO THE CAB, MAKING IT A SNAP TO INSTALL. BUT IT ALSO GIVES THE OPERATOR A 50 FOOT RANGE AND THE ABILITY TO STEP OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AND VISUALLY OVER
SEE THE LEVELING PROCESS. AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT, IT'S BOLT IN, NO DRILLING. THE FIRST BIT OF PREP IS TO REMOVE THE FACTORY BUMP STOPS. THEN THE AXLE BRACKET GETS PREINSTALLED ONTO THE AIR SPRING BEFORE IT GETS INSTALLED ONTO THE VEHICLE, MAKING THIS QUITE EASY TO DO AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAND ON YOUR HEAD TO DO IT. ALL OF THE AIR FITTINGS IN THIS SYSTEM HAVE A THREAD SEALANT PREAPPLIED.
NOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO TIGHTEN IT DOWN TO THE
VERY LAST THREAD. JUST GET GOOD THREAD ENGAGEMENT WITH THE SEALANT. THE FITTING IS BRASS AND IT'S A LITTLE SOFTER
THAN MOST BASE METALS. THE UPPER SPRING MOUNT ALSO GETS PREASSEMBLED, AND IS
BOLTED IN PLACE OF THE FACTORY BUMP STOPS.
THE AIR SPRING ITSELF SADDLES THE AXLE TUBE, AND IS HELD IN PLACE WITH UBOLTS THAT ARE SUPPLIED WITH THE KIT.

THE FIRESTONE ENGINEERS HAVE THOUGHT THIS THROUGH AND INCLUDED A HEAT SHIELD THAT YOU CAN CLOCK TO THE
EXHAUST IN WITH THE KIT. THE HEAT SHIELD WORKS WITH THE SAME PRINCIPLE THAT A HEAT SHIELD FOR YOUR FUEL TANK WORKS. IT JUST ISOLATES THE HEAT SOURCE FROM THE PIECE THAT YOU DON'T WANT HEATED UP. NOW THE AIR SPRING ITSELF IS NOT IN DANGER OF BURSTING INTO A FLAME, BUT HEAT CAN INCREASE THE AIR PRESSURE INSIDE THE BELLOWS.
(RYAN)>> NOW WE FOUND A MOUNTING LOCATION FOR OUR AIR COMPRESSOR AND AIR DISTRIBUTION BLOCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRAME RAIL JUST UNDERNEATH THE REAR DOOR.
THE MOUNTING BRACKET PROVIDES A NEAT AND ORGANIZED PLACE TO PUT EVERYTHING THAT BASICALLY CONTROLS THE AIR SPRINGS. OUR AIR COMPRESSOR FEEDS RIGHT INTO THE DISTRIBUTION BLOCK. WE'VE GOT TWO LINES GOING TO EACH OF THE REAR AIR SPRINGS, AND WE'VE GOT A THIRD LINE RUNNING TO THE REAR BUMPER THAT WE'LL TALK ABOUT HERE IN A SECOND.
AS FAR AS ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS GO, THEY'RE PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD. YOU'VE GOT A SINGLE GROUND TO THE CHASSIS, PLUG IN THE HARNESS INTO A COUPLE OF SPOTS ON THE ACCESSORY MOUNTING BOARD, AND HOOK UP A FUSED POWER SUPPLY TO THE AIR COMPRESSOR.
SECURE THESE WITH SOME ZIP TIES AND WE'RE DONE. AND WHEN ROUTING THE AIR LINES TO THE REAR AIR SPRINGS, WELL LIKE WE TOLD YOU BEFORE, BEWARE OF THE EXHAUST AND ANYTHING THAT MOVES.
NOW OUR SYSTEM CAME WITH A PROVISION TO ROUTE AN AUXILIARY AIR HOSE TO THE FRONT OR THE BACK OF THE TRUCK, WHEREVER YOU MIGHT WANT COMPRESSED AIR. WE GOT OURS ROUTED TO THE BACK, PLUGGED INTO A FILL VALVE.
THAT WAY WE CAN USE THE ACCESSORY INFLATION HOSE THAT
CAME STANDARD IN OUR KIT BUT IS AVAILABLE AS AN OPTION IN OTHER KITS. THAT WAY YOU CAN PUMP UP THE TIRES ON YOUR TRAILER, OR YOUR TRUCK, OR WHATEVER YOU MIGHT WANT COMPRESSED AIR FOR. THIS THING'S PRETTY SLICK.

CASE IN POINT, YOU JUST SAW THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT BUMPER COME OFF, AND NEEDLESS TO SAY THERE'S ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT THERE, AND IT COMES IN THE FORM OF THIS BOLT ON ROAD ARMOR REAR BUMPER FOR 2010 AND UP DODGE RAM TRUCKS. THESE BUMPERS FEATURE A THREESIXTEENTHS PLATE CONSTRUCTION WITH QUARTER INCH INTEGRATED BUMPER BRACKETS. THE SATIN POWDER COAT FINISH LOOKS GREAT AND COMES WITH A
WARRANTY LIKE THE REST OF THE BUMPER. AND THE THREE QUARTER INCH DRING MOUNTING POINTS ARE SUPER TOUGH. NOW THESE BUMPERS INSTALL WITHOUT ANY CUTTING OR DRILLING, AND THE BEST THING IS THEY'RE MADE RIGHT HERE IN THE USA. BUT BEFORE YOU INSTALL IT, THERE'S A LITTLE BIT OF PREP WORK TO DO. THE LOCATOR PIN FOR THE OE BUMPER GOES AWAY. NOW TYPICALLY REUSING THE ORIGINAL LOCATION, THE COMPANY WILL ASK YOU TO REUSE THE ORIGINAL FACTORY HARDWARE.
ROAD ARMOR HAS HEAVY DUTY GRADE EIGHT HARDWARE FOR MOUNTING.
NOW THIS RIGHT HERE TELLS ITS OWN STORY. IT TELLS US HOW WEAK THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT BUMPER IS
TO GET EASILY KNOCKED UP INTO THE BODY WORK AND SCRATCH THE PAINT. IT ALSO TELLS US IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO UPGRADE TO THE ROAD ARMOR BUMPER, WHICH IS MUCH STRONGER. BUT IT ALSO ILLUSTRATES THE POINT THAT YOU NEED TO PROTECT THESE PAINTED SURFACES BEFORE YOU INSTALL YOUR NEW BUMPER. NOW IT'S PRETTY EASY TO DAMAGE PAINT, BUT IT'S ALSO PRETTY EASY TO PROTECT THE PAINT. A COUPLE LAYERS OF THIS BRIGHT YELLOW MASKING TAPE NOT ONLY SERVE AS PROTECTION IN CASE IT GETS BUMPED, BUT IT'S ALSO LIKE A CAUTION TAPE AND JUST REMINDS US TO BE CAREFUL. NOW WE'RE USING A FLOOR JACK TO LEVEL THE BUMPER BEFORE WE RUN IN THE BOLTS FOR THE LAST TIME. NOW YOU'VE HEARD US TALK ABOUT INVENTIVE HITCHES BEFORE, AND THEY'RE STILL A GOOD IDEA WITH THE SUPER TOUGH BLACK FINISH OR EVEN IN CHROME. NOW RATHER THAN THROW A BUNCH OF BLACK PARTS INTO A DARK ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH MORE BLACK PARTS, I WANTED TO SHOW YOU WHAT COMES IN THE SYSTEM RIGHT HERE. AND IT STARTS WITH AN EGT PROBE FOR DETAILED REAL TIME FEEDBACK INTO THE SYSTEM. THE MODULE ITSELF CONNECTS WITH THE SUPPLIED HARNESS, WHICH INTERCEPTS YOUR INJECTORS.
THE JAB CONNECTOR ALSO TIES INTO THE MAIN HARNESS, AND YOU'VE GOT AN OBD TWO CONNECTOR THAT TIES YOU INTO THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER. THE CONNECTION TO THE CS DEVICE, THE CS ITSELF, A
WINDSHIELD MOUNT, EVEN A USB CABLE FOR EASY UPDATES FROM THE INTERNET IF YOU NEED THEM.

NOW WE CHOSE TO MOUNT THE EDGE BOX RIGHT ON TOP OF THE FUSE COVER BECAUSE IT'S IN A NICE, CONVENIENT SPOT, AND PROTECTED. NOW THIS PROGRAMMER COMES WITH A BUILT IN TURBO TIMER THAT'S PRETTY EASY TO INSTALL. JUST LOWER THIS KICK PANEL TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE IGNITION SWITCH AND ITS HARNESS, AND THIS INTERCEPT HARNESS GOES IN BETWEEN THE TWO. THIS RED LEAD SIMPLY PLUGS INTO THE TURBO TIMER LEAD COMING THROUGH THE FIREWALL FROM THE EDGE BOX. THE TURBO TIMER FEATURE WILL ALLOW THE TRUCK'S ENGINE TO RUN AT IDLE FOR A PREDETERMINED AMOUNT OF TIME AFTER YOU SHUT THE KEY OFF, LETTING THE TURBO COOL DOWN AND PREVENTING THE OIL FROM COKING IN THE TURBO AND THE OIL LINES. ALRIGHT, WITH ALL THE UNDERHOOD CONNECTIONS MADE AND THE TURBO TIMER WIRED IN UNDERNEATH THE DASH, WELL THE EVOLUTION CS SIMPLY MOUNTS ON THE WINDSHIELD WHEREVER YOU WANT IT. NOW ON THE DISPLAY RIGHT NOW IS EGT BOOST AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGES, ALONG WITH THE POWER LEVEL SETTING AT THE TOP. RIGHT NOW IT'S ON ZERO, BUT IT'S REALLY EASY TO CHANGE. SIMPLY SCROLL THROUGH YOUR DESIRED POWER SETTINGS FROM ONE OF THE FIVE OPTIONS, PICK THE ONE YOU WANT, AND LET IT TAKE HOLD, IT'S THAT EASY. NOW ALONG WITH ALL THE STANDARD FEATURES LIKE READING AND CLEARING TROUBLE CODES, REPROGRAMMING FOR A GEAR CHANGE, OR RECALIBRATING THE SPEEDOMETER, YOU CAN ALSO CUSTOMIZE THE BACK GROUND OF THE HIGH RESOLUTION EDGE COLOR SCREEN. UPLOAD YOUR OWN IMAGE TO USE AS YOUR OWN CUSTOM BACKGROUND.

NOW THE GAUGE IS LINED UP TO WHERE THE ORIGINAL RIDE HEIGHT WAS. OBVIOUSLY OUR TAPE LINE HAS MOVED DOWN A COUPLE OF INCHES, SO WE'LL SEE WHAT KIND OF MAGIC HAPPENS. RIDE RIGHT'S WIRELESS CONTROLLER IS EASY TO
OPERATE AND TO PROGRAM. JUST PUNCH IN THE DESIRED PRESSURE AND THE MONITOR WILL SHOW YOU THE ACTUAL PRESSURE RATING ON EACH SIDE. NOW OBVIOUSLY EACH LOAD IS GONNA HAVE A DIFFERENT WEIGHT, AND WILL DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE THAT YOU PUT IN. THE GOOD THING IS THAT IT'S EASY TO ADJUST, AND HAS THREE MEMORY POSITIONS IF YOU'RE HAULING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. COOL, OKAY, WITH THE PRESS OF A BUTTON OUR LOAD IN THE BACK IS NOW STABLE. WE'RE NOT SACRIFICING FUEL ECONOMY BY ACTING LIKE A GIANT WIND DAM AND PARACHUTE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHILE NOT BLINDING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WELL HERE'S SOMETHING ELSE TO THINK ABOUT. BUT WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING AROUND UNLOADED, WELL IT JUST LEAVES YOU RIDING AROUND WITH A STINK BUG STANCE, OR A RAKE. ALL OF THE AIR FITTINGS IN THIS SYSTEM HAVE A THREAD SEALANT PREAPPLIED.
NOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO TIGHTEN IT DOWN TO THE
VERY LAST THREAD. JUST GET GOOD THREAD ENGAGEMENT WITH THE SEALANT. THE FITTING IS BRASS AND IT'S A LITTLE SOFTER
THAN MOST BASE METALS. THE UPPER SPRING MOUNT ALSO GETS PREASSEMBLED, AND IS
BOLTED IN PLACE OF THE FACTORY BUMP STOPS.
THE AIR SPRING ITSELF SADDLES THE AXLE TUBE, AND IS HELD IN PLACE WITH UBOLTS THAT ARE SUPPLIED WITH THE KIT.

AS FAR AS ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS GO, THEY'RE PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD. YOU'VE GOT A SINGLE GROUND TO THE CHASSIS, PLUG IN THE HARNESS INTO A COUPLE OF SPOTS ON THE ACCESSORY MOUNTING BOARD, AND HOOK UP A FUSED POWER SUPPLY TO THE AIR COMPRESSOR.
SECURE THESE WITH SOME ZIP TIES AND WE'RE DONE. AND WHEN ROUTING THE AIR LINES TO THE REAR AIR SPRINGS, WELL LIKE WE TOLD YOU BEFORE, BEWARE OF THE EXHAUST AND ANYTHING THAT MOVES.
