(NARRATOR)>> TODAY WE'RE BORING INTO A SIXSEVEN CUMMINS TO GET AN EYE ON PERFORMANCE WHILE WRAPPING STAGE ONE WITH BIG NUMBERS ON THE DYNO.
(JEREMY)>> WOO, MAN YOU ARE GONNA LOVE THIS. GET DOWN HERE AND LOOK.
(NARRATOR)>> PLUS PAINT TIPS FROM OUR PRO TO ACCENT YOUR HOOD. THAT AND MORE RIGHT NOW ON TRUCK TECH.
(LT)>> TODAY WE'RE GONNA BE WORKING ON OUR RAM DUALLY. NOW WE JUST PICKED THIS THING UP NOT TOO LONG AGO AND A LITTLE BIT LATER ON WE'RE GONNA TRANSFORM IT INTO A HIGH PERFORMANCE DIESEL TRUCK, BUT FIRST THERE ARE A FEW THINGS THAT WE WANT TO DO THAT ARE PRETTY EASY THAT'LL GET MORE POWER FROM THIS CUMMINS AND STILL KEEP IT EMISSIONS LEGAL.
(JEREMY)>> NOW EVEN THOUGH THIS TRUCK CAME WITH OVER 900 POUNDS OF TORQUE THAT'S JUST NOT ENOUGH FOR MOST TRUCK GUYS. SO WE WENT AHEAD, THREW ON A BULLY DOG TUNER AND A COLD AIR INTAKE. NEXT WE'RE GONNA HOP INSIDE THE CAB AND ADD SOME GAUGES SO WE CAN KEEP AN EYE ON THIS DIESEL. WE EVEN THROW SOMETHING UNDER THE HOOD TO KEEP THINGS COOL.
(LT)>> WHEN IT COMES TO MONITORING WHAT'S GOING ON IN YOUR PERFORMANCE DIESEL ENGINE THERE ARE A LOT OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS, AND IT'S KIND OF THAT DIESEL GUY CLICHÉ TO HAVE GAUGES EVERYWHERE. I MEAN I'VE SEEN THEM ON THE APILLAR, UP ON THE ROOF, ON THE CENTER OF THE DASH, UNDERNEATH DASH, AND EVEN MORE PLACES THAN THAT, AND IT KINDA CAN GET A LITTLE BIT EXCESSIVE BUT THERE ARE A FEW THINGS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO MONITOR, AND YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES TYPICALLY. YOU CAN EITHER RUN THE TRADITIONAL ROUND NEEDLE STYLE GAUGE OR YOU CAN RUN SOME SORT OF A DIGITAL DISPLAY THAT READS INFORMATION OFF YOUR TRUCK'S COMPUTER. WE LIKE TO RUN A COMBINATION OF THE TWO.
(JEREMY)>> THE FIRST TWO THINGS WE LIKE TO KEEP AN EYE ON ARE BOOST PRESSURE AND EGT, OR EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURES, AND WE LIKE TO RUN THESE ON A TRADITIONAL STYLE GAUGE. SO WE PICKED UP A 60 PSI BOOST GAUGE AND A 1,600 DEGREE PYRO GAUGE FROM SUMMIT RACING. NOW THESE ARE FACTORY MATCH AUTOMETER GAUGES. SO THEY'LL LOOK OE IN OUR RAM, AND WE ALSO PICKED UP AN APILLAR POD TO MOUNT THEM.
(LT)>> TO KEEP AN EYE ON THINGS LIKE INJECTION TIMING, FUEL RAIL PRESSURE, AND INLET AIR TEMP WE GRABBED THIS BANKS IDASH. NOW THIS THING IS PRETTY NIFTY. IT MOUNTS IN THE STANDARD TWO AND A SIXTEENTH GAUGE POD AND IT PLUGS INTO THE OBD TWO PORT, AND IT CAN DISPLAY OVER 300 DIFFERENT PARAMETERS FROM YOUR ENGINE'S COMPUTER UP TO FIVE AT A TIME. IT ALSO HAS A BUILT IN SD CARD SO YOU CAN DATA LOG AND REVIEW EVERYTHING AFTER YOU'VE MADE A RUN. NOW LIKE I SAID, IT MOUNTS IN A STANDARD GAUGE POD. SO WE GRABBED THIS ONE THAT MOUNTS ON TOP OF THE STEERING COLUMN FROM SUMMIT RACING. WE'RE GOING TO START BY DRILLING A COUPLE OF HOLES IN THE ENGINE TO RUN SENSORS FOR THE PYROMETER AND MECHANICAL BOOST GAUGE.
I CAN FIT IN AN ANGLE DRILL WITH A 21/64TH BIT INTO THE ENGINE BAY AND START DRILLING INTO THE CAST IRON EXHAUST MANIFOLD. WHEN IT'S JUST ABOUT ALL THE WAY THROUGH I'LL PUT SOME HEAVY GREASE ONTO THE END OF THE DRILL BIT TO CATCH ANY SHAVINGS, AND DRILL THE REST OF THE WAY THROUGH. [ drill spinning ]
(LT)>> NEXT I'LL GREASE UP AN EIGHTH INCH PIPE TAP AND CUT SOME THREADS INTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THEN THE SENSOR BUNG CAN SCREW INTO THE HOLE, AND THE THERMO COUPLE CAN SLIDE IN, AND IT GETS SECURED WITH A SET SCREW. THE INTAKE TUBE GOES BACK ON AND THE PASSENGER SIDE IS DONE. NEXT WE NEED TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE INTAKE PLENUM ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE ENGINE. THIS IS WHERE THE PRESSURIZED AIR ENTERS THE CYLINDER HEAD AND WHERE WE NEED TO MAKE A HOLE FOR THE BOOST GAUGE. ALL RIGHT, SO OVER ON THE EXHAUST SIDE WE WERE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH DRILLING AND TAPPING THE MANIFOLD WITH IT STILL ATTACHED TO THE ENGINE. NOW WE TOOK PRECAUTIONS AGAINST IT BUT IF A LITTLE BIT OF METAL GOT DOWN INSIDE THE TURBO IT'S NOT IDEAL BUT IT'S NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL EITHER, BUT ON THE INTAKE SIDE WE ABSOLUTELY DON'T WANT ANY METAL SHAVINGS GETTING INTO THE ENGINE. SO IT'S WELL WORTH THE COUPLE OF MINUTES IT TAKES TO REMOVE THE PLENUM SO WE CAN DRILL AND TAP IT ON THE TABLE. USING THE SAME 21/64TH DRILL BIT AS BEFORE WE'LL MAKE A HOLE AND TAP IT.
WITH A LITTLE TEFLON TAPE ON THE FITTING I'LL TIGHTEN IT INTO THE PLENUM. THEN IT GETS INSTALLED BACK ONTO THE ENGINE IN THE SAME WAY IT CAME OUT.
WE'LL INSTALL THE NUT AND FERRULE ONTO THE PLASTIC TUBE AND TIGHTEN THE FITTING IN THE ENGINE. THE HOSES AND WIRES ARE PASSED THROUGH A HOLE INTO THE CAB, AND RUN UP TO THE APILLAR WHERE WE'LL MAKE CONNECTIONS AT THE GAUGES.
(NARRATOR)>> NEXT MORE HEAT AND MORE PRESSURE DESERVES BIGGER FLOW.
(LT)>> WITH THE APILLAR GAUGES ALL TAKEN CARE OF IT'S TIME TO MOUNT THE BANKS IDASH IN THE STEERING COLUMN MOUNT. NOW THAT MEANS THE FIRST THING TO DO IS MAKE A HOLE FOR SOME WIRES. I'LL MOUNT THE POD ON TOP OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND MAKE A MARK TO SHOW WHERE THE HOLE FOR THE WIRE NEEDS TO GO. I CHECKED UNDERNEATH AND THERE'S NOTHING IN THE WAY. SO I'LL SLOWLY DRILL WITH A STEP BIT UNTIL THE HOLE IS BIG ENOUGH FOR THE CONNECTOR. THEN I'LL PASS THE CABLE UP FROM UNDERNEATH, CONNECT IT TO THE BACK OF THE GAUGE, PEEL OFF THE DOUBLE STICK TAPE, AND SECURE IT TO THE TOP OF THE STEERING COLUMN. THEN ALL THAT'S LEFT IS THE OBD TWO CONNECTOR. NOW IT'S TIME TO GET THE TRUCK OVER TO THE LIFT AND UP IN THE AIR FOR OUR NEXT UPGRADE. WE'RE GOING TO BE REMOVING THE INTERCOOLER, WHICH ON A FOURTH GEN RAM'S ACTUALLY PRETTY EASY BECAUSE IT SITS BEHIND THE FRONT BUMPER AND UNDER THE RADIATOR. SO ALL IT TAKES IS REMOVING THE FRONT AIR SHROUD, A COUPLE OF TBOLT CLAMPS FOR THE TUBES, AND THE MOUNTING BOLTS CAN BE REMOVED SO THE INTERCOOLER WILL JUST DROP OUT OF THE WAY, FOLLOWED BY BOTH CHARGE AIR TUBES. WHEN A TURBO COMPRESSES AIR THAT AIR BECOMES WARMER AND THEREFORE LESS DENSE, WHICH MEANS IT CAN CONTAIN LESS FUEL AND MAKE LESS POWER, AND NONE OF THAT'S GOOD. SO JUST ABOUT EVERY VEHICLE THAT CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH A TURBO CHARGER ALSO CAME WITH AN INTERCOOLER. NOW IN OUR CASE WE'RE GONNA BE ASKING A LOT MORE OF THE FACTORY TURBO. IT'LL BE MAKING MORE HEAT AND MORE PRESSURE THAN THE FACTORY PARTS WERE DESIGNED TO HANDLE. SO IT'S TIME FOR AN UPGRADE. THIS IS A BANKS TECHNICOOLER SYSTEM. IT COMES WITH THE INTERCOOLER AND THE LARGER CHARGE PIPES, AND IT DOES A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT THINGS. NUMBER ONE IT DOES A MUCH BETTER JOB AT PULLING HEAT OUT OF THE COMPRESSED AIR ENTERING THE ENGINE. AND NUMBER TWO, IT HAS A MORE EFFICIENT CORE. SO THERE'S LESS PRESSURE DROP AS THE AIR GETS PUSHED ACROSS IT. SO ALL THAT MEANS WE'LL HAVE MORE POWER, MORE FUEL EFFICIENCY, AND LOWER EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURES. ALL OF THOSE ARE A GREAT THING. NOW THIS THING COMPLETELY DWARVES THE FACTORY PARTS. ITS CORE IS JUST UNDER SIX INCHES THICK. WHEN YOU COMPARE IT TO THE STOCK ONE AT FOUR AND A QUARTER, WELL THAT'S A HUGE IMPROVEMENT, AND ALSO IT OUT FLOWS THE STOCK PARTS BY 48 PERCENT. BECAUSE THE NEW INTERCOOLER IS SO MUCH THICKER, WE NEED TO MARK AND TRIM ONE INCH FROM THE FRONT AIR SHROUD. THEN I'LL DRILL SOME NEW MOUNTING HOLES SO IT CAN ATTACH TO THE TECHNICOOLER. NEXT I'LL STRIP THE MOUNTS, SHROUD, AND AIR DUCTING FROM THE OLD INTERCOOLER. I CAN NOW START ASSEMBLY WITH THE RUBBER ISOLATORS AND SIDE MOUNTS. THEN INSTALL THE AIR DAM AND FAN SHROUD. THE LARGER CHARGE AIR TUBES SLIDE UP IN FROM BELLOW AND CONNECT TO THE ENGINE. WITH SOME HELP THE PASSENGER'S SIDE CHARGE PIPE SLIDES IN AND CONNECTS TO THE COMPRESSOR OUTLET WITH A SILICONE COUPLER AND TBOLT CLAMP. WE'LL GET THE TRUCK BACK UP IN THE AIR. WELL LET'S GIVE THIS A SHOT.
(JEREMY)>> LOOKS HEAVY.
(LT)>> IT IS! AND HOIST THE TECHNICOOLER INTO PLACE. THE FACTORY MOUNTS CAN BE BOLTED BACK IN AND COUPLERS TIGHTENED UP. FINALLY THE TRIMMED AIR SHROUD CAN BE SLID IN AND ATTACHED WITH THE SUPPLIED CLIPS, AND TO FINISH THINGS OFF THE ORIGINAL LOWER VALENCE REINSTALLS.
WELL THAT WRAPS UP OUR FIRST BATCH OF PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS TO THIS SIXSEVEN CUMMINS. NOW WE DO HAVE A LOT MORE IN STORE FOR THIS TRUCK, AND IT'S NOT ALL GONNA BE ABOUT POWER, SPEED, TORQUE, AND ALL THAT OTHER AWESOME STUFF YOU GET FROM OWNING A DIESEL TRUCK LIKE THIS.
(JEREMY)>> YEAH I THINK WE NEED TO VISUALLY SPICE THIS TRUCK UP A LITTLE BIT TO GO ALONG WITH ALL THAT FUN STUFF LT'S TALKING ABOUT. I THINK WE'LL GET STARTED WITH THE HOOD. SO BEFORE YOU RUN OFF ANYWHERE HELP ME YANK THIS THING OFF.
(NARRATOR)>> NEXT, TO THE PAINT BOOTH TO MAKE A PLAIN HOOD POP.
(JEREMY)>> SO FAR WE'VE MADE SOME GREAT IMPROVEMENTS TO THIS TRUCK, BUT WE'VE GOT BIG PLANS FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS RAM. NOT ONLY THAT, WE'VE GOT BIG PLANS FOR THE WAY WE WANT IT TO LOOK. WE'RE GONNA BE INSTALLING A SUSPENSION KIT TO GET THE TRUCK UP IN THE AIR A LITTLE BIT, BUT IT'S GONNA HAVE SOME NICE FLASHY POWDER COATED PARTS SO WE CAN SEE EVERYTHING THAT'S GOING ON. THEN WE'RE GONNA GET RID OF THESE AWFUL WHEELS AND THROW ON A NICE BIG SET OF AGGRESSIVE WHEELS AND TIRES, AND WE'RE GONNA REMOVE THE RUNNING BOARDS, DEBADGE THE TRUCK, AND PROBABLY A SET OF BUMPERS, BUT TODAY I'M GONNA JUMP AHEAD A BIT. WE'RE GONNA DO SOME PAINT WORK TO GIVE THE BODY OF THIS RAM A LITTLE BIT OF ATTITUDE TO GO ALONG WITH THOSE FUTURE UPGRADES. NOW THESE NEW RAMS STILL HAVE A CLASSIC HOOD DESIGN LIKE YOU WOULD SEE ON THE OLD MOPAR MUSCLE CARS WITH THIS CENTER HOOD SCOOP SECTION. NOW NORMALLY YOU WOULD SEE THIS SATIN BLACK AND WE'RE GONNA DO SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THAT, BUT WE'RE GONNA ADD OUR OWN CUSTOM TOUCH. THE FIRST STEP IS TO CLEAN THE HOOD WITH WAX AND GREASE REMOVER TO GET RID OF ANY DIRT OR OIL SO IT WON'T GET EMBEDDED INTO THE CLEAR WHEN WE SAND IT. USING A SHORT BLOCK, 600 GRIT PAPER, AND A LITTLE WATER, WE CAN SAND THE HOOD. AFTER A QUICK WIPE DOWN WE CAN HEAD OVER TO THE PAINT BOOTH. RIGHT THERE! NOW I'LL DO ONE FINAL WIPE DOWN WITH WAX AND GREASE REMOVER. PREP IS EVERYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO PAINT. NEXT IS TO MASK THE HOOD SO WE DON'T GET ANY OVERSPRAY ON THE BOTTOM SIDE. OKAY SO HERE'S MY PLAN. WE ARE GOING TO PAINT THE CENTER SECTION OF THIS HOOD SCOOP BLACK JUST LIKE WE TALKED ABOUT WITH THE OLD MOPARS. THE ONLY THING IS WE'RE NOT GONNA LAY DOWN A SATIN BLACK. WE'RE GONNA DO A GLOSS FINISH. THEN I'VE HAD A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT STENCILS CUT OUT. NOW WE'RE GONNA LAY THEM OUT, FIGURE OUT WHICH ONES WE LIKE THE BEST, BUT THIS IS WHERE WE'RE GONNA INCORPORATE THAT RED MAROON TYPE COLOR WE HAD PICKED OUT FOR OUR TURBO AND SUSPENSION PARTS. SO THE NEXT THING FOR US TO DO, LAY DAY A LITTLE QUARTER INCH FINE LINE TAPE. ANY TIME YOU ADD A GRAPHIC LIKE THIS IT'S A MUST THAT YOU USE FINE LINE TAPE. IT GIVES YOU A VERY NICE, CRISP EDGE. SO HERE'S EVERYTHING SINGLE SOURCE IN NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, SENT US TO MAKE THIS JOB HAPPEN. WE'VE GOT A GALLON OF DBC 500, WHICH IS A CLEAR BASE, A PINT OF BLACK, HALF A GALLON OF MERLOT. THAT'S THE COLOR THAT'LL MATCH THE POWDER COAT. A GALLON OF CLEAR, ACTIVATOR, AND A GALLON OF REDUCER, AND WE'LL GET STARTED BY MIXING UP A LITTLE BIT OF CLEAR BASE. THIS MIXES ONE TO ONE WITH REDUCER AND IT'S READY TO SPRAY. AFTER A 15 MINUTE FLASH TIME WE CAN LAY DOWN A FEW COATS OF BLACK. THIS ALSO MIXES ONE TO ONE WITH REDUCER. THE FIRST THING WE WANT TO DO IS LINE UP THE STENCIL WHERE WE WANT IT. THEN I CAN LOCK DOWN ONE HALF OF IT WITH MASKING TAPE. THEN PEEL THE BACKING OFF OF THE OTHER HALF AND CUT IT AWAY. USING A FILLER SPREADER, I CAN SLOWLY APPLY ONE SIDE WORKING FROM THE CENTER. THEN THE OTHER END.
NOW WE CAN MIX UP THE RED. TO SPRAY THIS I'M USING A MINI GUN. WE CAN GET A VERY TIGHT SPRAY PATTERN WITH THIS, WHICH IS GREAT FOR LETTERS. AS I WAS UNMASKING IT I NOTICED THE SCOOPS AND I THOUGHT, MAN, HOW COOL WOULD IT BE TO ADD SOME TOUCHES THERE BECAUSE IN SOLID COLOR YOU KIND OF LOSE THEM. SO IF WE CAN GO IN HERE AND ADD A LITTLE EFFECT OR SOMETHING IT'S GOING TO MAKE THEM POP, GIVE THIS HOOD A MORE AGGRESSIVE LOOK.
(NARRATOR)>> NEXT, WE PROMISED BIG GAINS. STAY TUNED TO FIND OUT!
(LT)>> I HAVE TO SAY I THINK WE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE ADDING THAT LITTLE SPLASH OF COLOR TO THE HOOD. IT DEFINITELY SETS THE TRUCK APART FROM THE CROWD.
(JEREMY)>> I AGREE WITH YOU. NOW NOT TOO LONG AGO WE BROUGHT THIS TRUCK IN HERE, BASE LINED IT ON THE DYNO, AND MADE 352 HORSES TO REAR WHEELS.
(LT)>> SO WE DID THE MOST COMMON UPGRADES THAT GUYS WILL DO WHEN THEY FIRST GET THEIR DIESEL PICK UP. WE'VE GOT A PROGRAMMER, A COLD AIR INTAKE, AND WE ADDED AN INTERCOOLER.
(JEREMY)>> NOW WE'VE GOT IT BACK IN HERE. WE'VE GOT IT HOOKED UP TO THE LIE DETECTOR, AND WE'RE GONNA SEE WHAT SHE DOES NOW.
(JEREMY)>> I THINK WE'RE GONNA MAKE A BIG IMPROVEMENT OVER SOME FAIRLY SIMPLE UPGRADES.
(LT)>> YEAH, YOU KNOW I'VE GOT THE BULLY DOG SET ON EXTREME. I THINK WE'LL BE REALLY HAPPY WITH HOW IT DOES.
(JEREMY)>> LET'S HIT IT MAN, SEE WHAT HAPPENS. [ engine revving ]
(LT)>> WELL THAT WAS ABOUT 35 POUNDS OF BOOST, ABOUT 1,250 ON THE PYRO, WHAT DID WE DO?
(JEREMY)>> I WOULD SAY IT'S A BIG IMPROVEMENT OVER WHAT WE HAD. WE DID 439 ON POWER, 897 ON TORQUE. THAT'S A BIG GAIN! YOU'LL FEEL THAT IN THE TRUCK FOR SURE.
(LT)>> EVEN THOUGH THIS THING IS 8,500 POUNDS I BET IT'LL STILL GET DOWN THE ROAD IN A HURRY.
(JEREMY)>> WHAT DO YOU SAY WE MAKE ANOTHER?
(LT)>> WAIT FOR THE CONVERTER TO LOCK UP. BRING IT UP IN THE RPM. GIVE IT JUST A LITTLE BIT OF LOAD, SPOOL THE TURBO, AND AWAY WE GO. [ engine revving ]
(LT)>> THE SECOND RUN WAS SLIGHTLY BETTER AT 443, BUT AS ALWAYS WE'LL MAKE THREE RUNS TO GET A GOOD AVERAGE. [ engine revving ]
(JEREMY)>> MAN YOU ARE GONNA LOVE THIS! GET DOWN HERE AND LOOK.
(LT)>> MAN THAT FELT GOOD. ALL RIGHT MAN, I'VE GOT TO CHECK IT OUT. HOW'D WE DO?
(JEREMY)>> WE DID 451 ON POWER, 935 ON TORQUE, AND I OVERLAID THAT WITH OUR BASE LINE NUMBER JUST SO YOU COULD SEE THE DIFFERENCE.
(LT)>> WELL CHECK THAT OUT. WE'VE GOT 99 MORE HORSEPOWER AND 230 POUNDS OF TORQUE EXTRA AT THE REAR WHEELS. THE BEST PART IS IT ONLY COST ABOUT $2,100 BUCKS.
(JEREMY)>> INEXPENSIVE WAY TO MAKE A TON OF POWER. MAN I'M DIGGING IT.
(LT)>> SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? YOU GONNA GET A DIESEL RACE TRUCK YET?
(JEREMY)>> NOT UNTIL YOU START SANDING.
(LT)>> THAT'S A FAIR TRADE.
(JEREMY)>> CARS AND TRUCKS ARE JUST A MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION FOR SOME, BUT FOR US IT'S A REFLECTION OF OUR PERSONALITY. BIGGER WHEELS AND TIRES, SUSPENSION, AND INTERIOR UPGRADES. ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO MAKE OUR VEHICLE STAND OUT FROM EVERYONE ELSE'S, AND FOR EXAMPLE TAIL LIGHTS. NOW YOU CAN BUY AN AFTERMARKET SET AND PUT THEM IN YOUR TRUCK, AND THEY'LL LOOK REALLY COOL, BUT THEY'RE GONNA COST YOU.
TODAY I'LL SHOW YOU SOMETHING COOL YOU CAN DO TO THE REAR OF YOUR TRUCK, AND I'M TALKING ABOUT SMOKED TAIL LIGHTS. NOW THERE'S MANY WAYS TO GET THIS EFFECT. THE SAME FILM THAT TINTS YOUR WINDOWS, YOU CAN ALSO USE TO SMOKE YOUR TAIL LIGHTS. NOW I'VE TINTED A LOT OF WINDOWS IN MY DAY AND I'M HERE TO TELL YOU, IT'S NOT THE EASIEST THING IN THE WORLD TO DO. SO YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW HARD IT WOULD BE TO WRAP THIS LIGHT. ANOTHER WAY YOU CAN DO IT IS USE A TRANSPARENT PAINT FROM A RATTLE CAN. THIS IS ANOTHER EASY WAY TO GET THIS EFFECT, BUT I'LL SHOW YOU HOW I'M GONNA DO IT. FIRST WIPE THE LIGHTS DOWN WITH WAX AND GREASE REMOVER TO GET THE SURFACE CLEAN. THEN WE CAN SAND THE LIGHTS DOWN WITH A GRAY SCUFF PAD. I'LL BACK MASK THE LIGHTS SO WE DON'T GET ANY OVERSPRAY ON THE BACK SIDE, AND WIPE THEM DOWN ONE MORE TIME WITH DEGREASER. THE FIRST THING WE'RE GOING TO APPLY IS THE ADHESION PROMOTER. NOW THIS IS READY TO SPRAY. SO THERE IS NO MIXING REQUIRED AND WE ONLY NEED A COUPLE OF OUNCES. AT ABOUT 16 PSI AT THE INLET OF THE GUN WE CAN LAY DOWN ONE EVEN COAT. NOW THAT OUR ADHESION PROMOTER'S FLASHED FOR 30 MINUTES WE CAN GET ON TO THE IMPORTANT PART, AND THAT'S MIXING THE BLACK AND THE INNER COAT CLEAR TOGETHER. NOW AN INNER COAT CLEAR IS BASICALLY A CLEAR BASE COAT. THIS IS NORMALLY WHAT I USE BEFORE I LAY DOWN ANY GRAPHICS. SO I'LL BASE THE TRUCK OR CAR, LAY DOWN AN INNER COAT CLEAR, AND THEN THE GRAPHICS. THAT WAY YOU PROTECT ANY WORK YOU'VE ALREADY DONE, BUT IT'S ALSO GREAT FOR WORK LIKE THIS. A LOT OF TIMES PEOPLE WILL MIX THE BLACK INTO A CLEAR COAT OR JUST OVER REDUCE IT, BUT I'VE FOUND AN INNER COAT CLEAR WORKS THE BEST. FIRST POUR ABOUT TWO OUNCES OF CLEAR INTO A CUP, AND THIS MIXES ONE TO ONE WITH REDUCER. THEN WE CAN ADD A LITTLE BLACK. I'LL START WITH ABOUT HALF OF AN OUNCE. YOU CAN SEE HOW TRANSPARENT IT IS. NOW WE CAN LAY DOWN ONE COAT OF THE TRANSPARENT PAINT. NOW YOU CAN SEE HOW THIS IS ALREADY STARTING TO CHANGE. SO YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T MIX IN TOO MUCH BLACK OR LAY DOWN TOO HEAVY OF A COAT BECAUSE YOU COULD RUIN THIS PART. AND A SECOND COAT DOES THE TRUCK, AND THAT'S HOW EASY IT IS TO SMOKE TAIL LIGHTS. NOW THE ONLY THING I'VE GOT LEFT TO DO IS LAY DOWN A COUPLE OF COATS OF CLEAR.
(LT)>> HOT SHOT'S SECRET HAS A TWO STEP TREATMENT PLAN THAT'LL MAINTAIN A HEALTHY FUEL SYSTEM ON YOUR DIESEL TRUCK. YOU'LL START WITH A DOSE OF DIESEL EXTREME. THIS WILL CLEAN OUT THE TANK, LINES, INJECTION PUMP, AND THE INJECTORS, AND IT'S SO EFFECTIVE YOU ONLY NEED TO USE IT EVERY SIX MONTHS. THEN EACH TIME YOU FILL UP AFTER THAT YOU WANT TO USE EVERYDAY DIESEL TREATMENT. IT'LL MAINTAIN THAT CLEAN FUEL SYSTEM, PLUS IT ADDS A SEVEN POINT BUMP OF CETANE. IT'LL INCREASE YOUR FUEL MILEAGE AND IT'LL ADD LUBRICITY TO THE FUEL, WHICH IS GOOD FOR EVERYTHING. ORDER SOME OR ANY OF THEIR OTHER PRODUCTS AT HOT SHOT'S SECRET DOT COM.
