(ELIZA)>> HOLLEY'S LS FEST HAS BECOME THE PREMIER EVENT FOR FANS OF GM'S HIGH PERFORMANCE DO IT ALL LS ENGINE PLATFORM. THIS YEAR HOLLEY IS BRINGING THIS WHEELED EXTRAVAGANZA BACK TO THE SPRAWLING LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY JUST OUTSIDE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA.

(JEREMY)>> OUT ON DISPLAY IN FRONT OF HOLLEY'S PRODUCT TRAILER WAS OUR VERY OWN OVERLAND SCOUT PROJECT FOR GEARHEADS TO GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH. WE OPENED UP OUR INTERNATIONAL BASED BUILD FROM THE TENT TO THE STORAGE, AND OF COURSE THE HOLLEY EFI FED LS TWO UNDER THE HOOD.

(ELIZA)>> THIS IS THE REASON WHY WE ARE HERE, THE CHEVROLET LS. SINCE ITS INTRODUCTION IN 1997 THIS HAS BEEN A COMPLETE GAME CHANGER, AND ITS LOVE FOR THE ENGINE IS OBVIOUS.

(JEREMY)>> THE STRIP IS WHERE YOU CAN FIND SOME OF THE QUICKEST AND FASTEST CARS ON THE PLANET, FIGHTING SIDE BY SIDE AND DOOR HANDLE TO DOOR HANDLE ON 1,320 FEET OF SUPER STICKY CONCRETE. TODAY IT WAS PAIR AFTER PAIR OF GROUND POUNDING ACTION FROM SOME OF THE QUICKEST LS POWERED CARS IN THE WEST.

(ELIZA)>> AND JUST LIKE IN THE SHOW AND SHINE, THERE'S A WIDE VARIETY OF VEHICLES HITTING THE TRACK BECAUSE ONE REALLY COOL ASPECT IS THERE WAS SO MANY CLASSES. SO EVEN IF THEY DIDN'T BUILD THEIR RIDE FOR THE TRACK OWNERS COULD STILL UNLEASH THE FURY OF AN LS POWERED RIDE ON THIS OTHER FAMOUS LAS VEGAS STRIP.

(JEREMY)>> AND JUST ONE MORE THING AT LS FEST IS THE THREES CHALLENGE. THAT'S SPEED UP AS FAST AS YOU CAN, STEER THROUGH THE CORNER AS FAST AS YOU CAN, AND STOP IN THE BOX AS FAST AS YOU CAN, AND THE FIRST ONE THERE WINS. [ engine revving ]

(JEREMY)>> BACK ON THE DIRT TRACK THE OFF ROAD CHALLENGE WAS HEATING UP. LS ENGINES ARE TAKING OVER THE OFF ROAD WORLD AND ARE POWERING ALL THE VEHICLES IN EACH CLASS. THE TRACK WAS SET UP BY NONE OTHER THAN THE CREW AT ULTRA FOUR RACING. THE GUYS BEHIND THE KING OF THE HAMMERS.

(JOHN)>> THE TRACK'S A SUPER AWESOME SHORT COURSE. IT'S GOT A COMBINATION OF SOME WHOOPS, AND SMALL DEVILS, AND A REALLY BIG DEVIL, AND A BIG TABLE TOP OF SOME TIGHT TURNS, SOME BIG TURNS. KIND OF A LITTLE COMBINATION OF EVERYTHING, HIGH SPEED AND LOW SPEED. [ engine revving ]

(JOHN)>> TODAY'S A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT FORMAT. WE'RE ACTUALLY DOING DOUBLE ELIMINATION BRACKET RACING. SO WE WILL START WITH TWO CARS AT A TIME ON THE COURSE. FIRST GUY TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE WINS. DOUBLE ELIMINATION, SO YOU'LL ACTUALLY HAVE A LOSERS ROUND AND YOU CAN COME BACK AND ACTUALLY WIN AFTER YOU LOSE ONE TIME. TURN ONE'S GONNA BE SUPER IMPORTANT. ONCE YOU'RE IN THE FRONT YOU CAN HOLD THE LEAD A LITTLE BIT. A QUARTER OF THE TRACK HAS SEPARATED LINES. SO YOU HAVE SEPARATE LINES WITH A DIVIDER IN THE CENTER AND THE REST OF THE TRACK'S OPEN. SO A LITTLE DIFFERENT PLAY THERE. PICK YOUR OWN LINE. IT'S THE FIRST ONE THERE. INSIDE, OUTSIDE OBVIOUSLY YOU KNOW. WE TRY TO EQUAL THEM OUT WITH THE JUMPS BEING OFFSET A LITTLE BIT, BUT OUTSIDE USUALLY TENDS TO BE A LITTLE FASTER. YOU CAN CARRY MORE SPEED IN THE CORNERS. KEEPING UP CORNER SPEED IS GONNA BE REAL. EVERYONE CAN GO FAST IN A STRAIGHT LINE. SO IT'S ALL ABOUT CORNERS. STRATEGY'S GONNA BE GET OUT FRONT, AND JUST STAY IN FRONT AND WIN. WHO'S GONNA BE AT THE CURRENT FINISH LINE FIRST AND MAKE IT TO THE TOP OF THE BRACKETS?

SHOWING HIS DOMINATION ONCE AGAIN AND RIPPING OUT TO AN EARLY LEAD IS TWO TIME KING OF THE HAMMERS WINNER AND OUR LS FEST WEST CHALLENGE WINNER LOREN HEALY.

THIS OWNER/DRIVER/MECHANIC IS A FIVE TIME ULTRA FOUR CHAMPION AND A TWO TIME KING OF THE HAMMERS WINNER. IN FACT, HIS VERY FIRST TIME RACING WAS AT KOH. HE ACTUALLY BROKE HIS RACE CAR IN HALF, WENT BACK HOME, TOOK A SECOND MORTGAGE OUT ON HIS HOUSE, BUILT A NEW CAR, AND RETURNED TO KOH AND WON IT ALL ONLY IN HIS SECOND TRY.

HOT ON LOREN'S TAIL WAS NOR CAL ROCK RACING FOUNDER JOHN GOODBY, WHO BELIEVE IT OR NOT, IS RACING HIS CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FIVE YEARS. HE'S BEEN SO BUSY BUILDING RACE TRACKS LIKE THIS THAT HE HAS NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY FOR ANY SEAT TIME IN HIS RIDE UNTIL THIS WEEKEND.

BEHIND JOHN WAS MATT FALAS, ALSO KNOWN AS "TEXAS JESUS". MATT WAS THE GUY RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING THE BUILD OF SIX BRAND NEW SPEC RACERS FOR DAVID COLE DURING THE 2014 KING OF THE HAMMERS RACE. SO NOT ONLY CAN HE TURN A STEERING WHEEL, HE CAN TURN A WRENCH PRETTY GOOD TOO.

RIGHT BEHIND MATT IS OUR GOOD BUDDY JT TAYLOR. THIS BRONZE STAR RECIPIENT, NOW RETIRED FROM THE US ARMY, IS THE RACE DIRECTOR FOR THE KING OF THE HAMMERS AND THE ULTRA FOUR SERIES.

BUT JUST LIKE IN THE OFF ROAD CHALLENGE TODAY, LOREN HEALY JUST COULDN'T BE CAUGHT, TAKING THE CHECKERS AND POCKETING AN EASY $1,000 BUCKS.
