18-Year Old Driver Takes Dad’s Car, Gets Stopped Doing 190mph On Highway
Although not the first (and probably not the last) quarantine speeding story we’ve seen, this one definitely has the highest speeds.
Ontario Provincial Police stopped 19-year old Noah Lauricella after clocking him doing 308 kph (191 mph) in a 100 kph (62mph) zone on the Queen Elizabeth Way in a high-performance Mercedes-Benz C63.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said passing cars were “honking in delight” when they saw the Mercedes pulled over on the side of the road.
The driver had a 19-year-old passenger with him and was charged with stunt driving/street racing and criminal dangerous driving. Per Canadian law, the car was impounded for a week and the driver’s license suspended for a week as well.
