A Mechanic That Will Fix Your Car….For Free
Having a car in disrepair or in need of parts can be both frustrating and can quickly become costly. This mechanic has figured out a way to help people deal with much of the stress that comes with automobile repairs…do all the labor for free if they need it.
David McCoy lives and works just outside of Atlanta and has been leading his Car Care team for 15 years. He’s a retired air force mechanic and has helped single mothers and cancer patients, but says he’ll help anyone if they need it. He says his criteria is, “Do you need it? If so, you qualify.”
He says the free repairs are especially important in his community because it doesn’t offer public transportation. Around 40 volunteers do the repairs twice a month. In 2016, he and his team donated $68,000 worth of labor and car parts. That’s how you know someone has a true love of mechanics and automotive work. And what better way to both help your community and give back to the less fortunate than through cars!
McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church gives donations to keep Car Care running. But without McCoy and his volunteers, there would be no Car Care, so thank you to all that help and keep the love for automotive mechanics alive!
