Tesla Model 3 plows info overturned truck on highway. I’m sure the driver was paying complete attention to the road and wasn’t relying on autopilot because he was told the car could drive itself….$TSLAQ pic.twitter.com/cHjueqH0j4
Yet another, what appears to be an Autopilot fail, to add to Tesla’s record. The accident occurred on Taiwan’s National Highway 1 when a Tesla Model 3 crashed straight into the roof of an overturned truck trailer.
While of course, driver distraction is the ultimate root of the accident, from what is shown in the video, it’s thought that the accident was accelerated by the Tesla’s Autopilot system not detecting the truck. This has unfortunately happened before, as during sunny, daylight conditions white objects are sometimes not read by the sensors.

So even though the Autopilot may have failed, the real question is: what was the driver doing that they completely missed a semi-truck overturned in the middle of the road? Whether it was a medical emergency or the driver was too distracted, there has to be more to the story.
