Bentley’s Produced The Final 6.75-liter V8 After 61-Year Run
The engine just might be the longest production run of a single V8 engine. And it has come to an end.
After 61 years, Bentley has finished its very last 6.75-liter V8. The final engine will go in the 30th (and final) Bentley Mulsanne which also marks the end of the flagship sedan.
The L-series was first introduced in 1959 to develop more power than its existing inline-six without added weight or space. The engine weighed 30 pounds less than the six-cylinder and made about 180 horsepower.
With the 6.75-liter engine gone, all of Bentley’s engines are now derived from VW Group engines.
