Driver Doing Donuts Down The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Facing 27 Charges
Drivers just can’t stop doing amateur stunts on bridges. There are times and places for a good burnout or donut, no question about it. But in the middle of a bridge full of other drivers isn’t one of them.
The latest offender is a Virginia man who is now facing 27 charges after he did donuts in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Fellow drivers caught video of the black Nissan burning out and leaving skid marks on the westbound span of the bridge.
Authorities were able to use the videos to track down the driver and identified him as 22-year-old Gary Ray Montague Jr. before charging him with three counts of disturbing the peace and one count of disorderly conduct. He was also charged with 23 traffic violations, including reckless driving, willfully damaging a highway, and driving a motor vehicle in a manner intended to cause skidding.
The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office thanked members of the public saying:
“The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank everyone who provided pictures and video footage, from this past Sunday’s reckless driving behavior on the Bay Bridge, that helped to find and charge this suspect.”
Maybe more cities need to be inspired by cities such as Detroit, which has cleared out a “safe” space for drivers and spectators to participate in sideshows using a vacant lot.
