Enzo Ferrari Drama Series in Development for Apple TV+
Steven Knight, creator of the hit series Peaky Blinders is developing a new drama series about Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari for Apple TV+. The series has also brought in Oscar-winning director Paolo Sorrentino (The Hand of God) on board as an executive producer and Stefano Sollima as a director.
Ferrari will be based on Luca Dal Monte’s biography Ferrari Rex and will explore how the pro racer and entrepreneur was driven by speed and ambition to build the fastest race car in history, but only to be struck by trauma throughout his journey. From dealing with the death of his firstborn son to the alleged betrayal of his former lead driver Juan Manuel Fangio, Ferrari was able to create an undeniable race team from nothing, as well as selecting five talented drivers to stardom.
Ferrari is slated to be Knight’s second Apple TV+ series, the first being See which stars Jason Momoa in its third and final season.
“I am thrilled to be telling such an evocative story about this legendary man and his iconic brand,” Knight tells Deadline. “Enzo Ferrari’s utterly extraordinary life was defined by his dramatic personal and professional journey, and Ferrari is a celebration of an incredibly complex and fascinating human being.”
