FCA Is In Trouble With The Feds
It looks like Fiat Chrysler will be joining Volkswagen in a dieselgate situation. They are also under the microscope for allegedly using software in diesel V6 Jeeps and Rams to allow excess diesel pollution. According to Jalopnik, if the EPA and Fiat Chrysler can’t come to some sort of agreement, the U.S. Justice Department will sue the automaker. And that could happen as early as this week, so things are escalating quickly for FCA.
However, from what FCA has said it doesn’t sound they it’s going to back down quietly. It told Bloomberg that “FCA US will defend itself vigorously, particularly against any claims that the company deliberately installed defeat devices to cheat U.S. emissions tests”. So we’ll see how it plays out…hopefully better than it did for VW.
