Find Out How Chip Foose’s ‘The Imposter’ Came To Be!

Foose Ridler Winning Impala!- 2016 PowerNation Week #13

This week on PowerNation we’re honored to have the 2015 Ridler Award winning 1965 Impala nicknamed “The Imposter”, built by Chip Foose and his team at Foose Design. Joining Katie will be one of the team members who had a hand in the build, our good friend and former coworker Steve Mank. Ironically Chip had in mind an Impala concept like this and owner Don Voth owned a 1965 Impala in high school so it was a perfect match. It was a 6 year project and they bought a 2008 C-6 Corvette from a dealer than stripped it down and dropped the ’65 Impala body on top of the Corvette chassis and engine. Then the cutting started! 14 inches of length came off the Impala body. The deck lid is 7” shorter and the windshield is laid back 2 1/2 inches. It’s powered by the Corvette 6.2 liter V-8 and Chip added a supercharger. The bumpers are handmade and fitted, it has a custom Magnaflow exhaust and the rear wheel wells were lifted 2” and pulled forward 7”. It rolls on Foose Wheels and Pirelli Tires. Its a gorgeous car and you’ll hear Steve talk all about it this week on PowerNation.
