Florida Man Crashes His Newly-Purchased Ford GT Because He’s Never Driven Stick Before
Flashy sports cars are a common occurrence in the state of Florida. Unfortunately for one Boca Raton resident, his didn’t last long enough after purchase to show it off.
According to police, 50-year-old Robert J. Guarini crashed his 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition into a palm tree because he was “unfamiliar with how to drive stick shift.” While attempting to downshift, Guarini lost control of the GT while leaving his home.
It was all downhill from there.
Because he didn’t have his phone on him at the time, a nearby security worker gave him a ride back to his home to call the police from a landline. The damage done to the car was designated to the front, making it fully undrivable. It is unknown how fast Guarini was going, but it was enough to slide the GT to land on the sidewalk after the crash.
The next big blow was the fact that the GT wasn’t registered or insured. The vehicle’s VIN also mentions that it was purchased at a Barret-Jackson auction for $704,000 in April 2022.
Lastly, Guarini was given a citation for driving with a suspended license and a warning for operating an unregistered vehicle.
