Ford Released Numbers On The 2020 Shelby GT500 Mustang, And They’re Big
Ford’s 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January and our very own Detroit Muscle’s Marc Christ and Tommy Boshers were in attendance to check it out in person. At the unveiling, numbers weren’t released but Ford has just announced them. And they’re big.
The all-new 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 will produce 760 horsepower and 625 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful street-legal Ford ever – with the most power- and torque-dense supercharged production V8 engine in the world. Shifting that power will be a Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with no manual option available as of yet.
Ford says it will run the quarter-mile in under 11 seconds. It’s 0-60 mph time will be a little over three seconds. The car will feature a carbon fiber driveshaft, MagneRde dampers, Michelin tires (Pilot Sport 4S tires optional), big Brembo 16.5-inch rotors with six-piston calipers for stopping power. An active valve exhaust system plays the soundtrack from the 5.2-liter V08 while inside features a 12-inch LCD digital instrument cluster.
