Jeep Re-Uploads Bruce Springsteen Ad After DWI Charges Dropped
Just weeks after Bruce Springsteen’s DWI arrest was made public and Jeep paused its ad featuring the singer, federal prosecutors have dismissed driving the charges. With the charges dropped, Jeep has also “unpaused” the ad.
Back in November 2020 Springsteen was pulled over on his Triumph motorcycle for a photo-op with some fans. He was reportedly pulled over with a blood-alcohol content of 0.02. Springsteen pleaded guilty to the charge of drinking alcohol in a closed area and admitted to having “two small shots of tequila” during his court appearance this week.
However, based on the fact that Springsteen’s blood-alcohol level was only .02, well below the local limit of .08, prosecutors proposed the dismissal of the DUI and reckless driving charges. The judge agreed and ordered the singer to pay a $500 fine and $40 in court fees.
Jeep released the ad back on its social media platforms saying, “As we stated previously, we paused the commercial until the facts were established. Now that the matter has been resolved, we are unpausing the film.”
While the ad is public again, it is unable to be embedded and comments have been turned off so you’ll have to check it out here.
