Land Rover Celebrates James Bond with 60th Anniversary Defender Rally Special
2022 marks the 60th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise and Land Rover is celebrating this milestone by entering a rally-ready Defender 90 into the 2022 Bowler Defender Challenge. As an added bonus, behind the wheel will be three-time British Rally champ Mark Higgins and his co-driver Claire Williams.
“To celebrate Land Rover’s long-running association with the Bond franchise, our very own special agent will showcase the durability and all-terrain capability of Defender with a nod to its special appearance in No Time To Die,” says Land Rover Brand Director Finbar McFall.

Higgins has also been featured in several Bond films like Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time to Die.
“The New Defender is a tough and capable vehicle when it leaves the production line and I’ve seen it perform really challenging stunts while on the set of No Time To Die,” says Higgins. “With the race ready enhancements made by the Bowler team and with Claire by my side we are confident we can have a great result.”
The Bond Defender is based on the current Defender 90, featuring a P300 Ingenium powertrain, roll cage, enhanced cooling, 18-inch Bowler wheels, bespoke suspension design, sports exhaust, rear roof spoiler, turrets for increased stiffness, and a long list of safety extras.
And if you were ever worried that your current car isn’t cool enough, or doesn’t emanate a “Bond factor,” remember that he once drove a Citroën 2CV in For Your Eyes Only.
