Married Couple Will Race Against Each Other At Bristol

A couple competing against each other in a NASCAR race hasn’t happened since the ’90s. But Stewart and Jessica Friesen are hoping to be the first married couple since Elton Stewart and Patty Moise to do that at the upcoming Camping World Truck Series event at Bristol Motor Speedway.

It’s a big event in more than one way. Bristol is going back to dirt racing. The series announced it’s bringing dirt back to the oval racing series and will fill Bristol Motor Speedway with 15,000 truckloads of dirt.

While Stewart is a full-time driver in the Truck Series, Jessica currently races dirt modifies and has never driven any of the Halmar Friesen Racing Toyota Tundras before before the practice sessions at Bristol.

Interestingly enough, it won’t be the first time they’ve raced against each other. Just two days after their wedding back in 2014 they finished 1-2 in a sprint car race near their home in upstate New York. They did the same thing at Fonda speedway last year so these two are no newbies to competition.
