Montana Woman Uses Hair-Dryer To Scare Off Speeders
Old trick, but effective. Local Montana news KPAX reported on a woman who was fed up with drivers speeding on her street, so she took things into her own hands.
Patti Baumgartner was tired of cars flying down her road. As a mother and grandmother, she was worried about her grandchild’s safety. So she sat on the side of her street holding a white hairdryer, pointing it at cars as they drove by. Her plan was that the hairdryer would look like a radar gun.
In hopes of getting the Montana Highway Patrol’s attention, Patti’s son Tim took a picture of her using the hairdryer and tweeted it. That did the trick! Trooper Pesola responded.
“I thought it was hilarious, I think that we have a speed issue in Montana and I thought it was a great creative idea for the public to try and combat that a little bit without making people too upset,” said Trooper Pesola.
He made Baumgartner an “honorary trooper” and gave her a trooper hat and a badge to make her look a little official.
