Pandemic Putting A Pause On Corvette Production

Chevrolet

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the automotive industry hard. Between slumping sales and production, every aspect has been affected.

When the pandemic began, shutdowns were common for a variety of reasons. Now, it’s usually due to inventory or production. The Chevrolet Corvette assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky will shut down for one week starting on October 12 due to supply chain disruptions.

GM spoke to Road & Track and said its supply chain, manufacturing, and engineering teams are working with the automaker’s suppliers to ensure no further impact on production will occur.

This is the second time since production began back in February that Chevy has had to push pause at the Bowling Green plant due to COVID-related impacts.

As of now, the plant is scheduled to resume normal operations on Monday, October 19.
