Iowa is about to make its “move over” laws stricter and this video the Iowa DOT released is a perfect example of why. The law requires drivers to move over or slow down if they see an emergency vehicle. Last year, Iowa lawmakers expanded the law to include utility trucks and garbage trucks.

But if possible, you should move over for any vehicle on the shoulder. Being stopped while vehicles fly by you at 70+ mph is a scary thing and can get really dangerous really quickly. Accidents like this happen all the time and can be so easily prevented by just paying attention and moving over when possible!
