Wheels for Warriors: Soldier’s Dodge Demon 170 Auction Aims To Benefit Military Families
By now you’ve probably heard about the U.S. soldier who ordered a limited-edition Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 in F8 Green while deployed, only for some shady salespeople to sell it from underneath him to someone else (for a gigantic dealer markup). Since then, the Brotherhood of Muscle came to the rescue by replacing the initial Dodge Demon 170 with a new one with no markups, the dealership fired the salespeople responsible, and Jay Leno helped the soldier take delivery of his new Challenger in his garage.
A Happy Ending in Sight
But the good news isn’t stopping there. The owner of the original Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 which was ordered by the soldier, but sold to a different customer, is heading to the Mecum auction block to benefit military charities. When the second customer purchased the Dodge Demon 170, unaware it was meant for someone else, he had it returned to the dealership. And now that the soldier received his new Dodge Challenger, they agreed that the initial Dodge Demon 170 would be auctioned off to benefit three charities: Homes for Wounded Warriors, 5th Squad Veterans Helping Veterans, and Special Forces Association Chapter 79.
The Final Chapter of The Dodge Demon 170
The original F8 Dodge Demon 170 is scheduled to hit the Mecum auction block on April 4th in Houston, TX with no reserve. According to the Mecum website, the car only has 54 miles on the odometer, it is equipped with a Supercharged 6.2L 1,025 horsepower HEMI V-8 engine, and features the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Package-27Q which is an option worth $16,605.
It is unknown how much this car will sell for at auction. But considering that is the most powerful factory-made muscle car, a limited-edition one at that, it has a unique story behind it, and the proceeds will go on to benefit three worthy charities, chances are it will fetch a price greater than the original $124k MSRP. One thing we can be sure of is that the moment the gavel hits, it will also close the book on this story with a very happy ending.
