Teaser Shows Off 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06’s Upgraded Aerodynamics
The Corvette has been one of the most popular sports cars in the world since the 1950’s. Seventy years later, the Corvette has gone through a significant evolution in terms of design, performance, and attitude as evident by the latest rendition to emerge this year: the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
The Z06 is in such high demand that some dealerships have them marked up in the six-figure range. Regardless of price, Corvette enthusiasts will certainly be intrigued by the design choices made to give the sports car maximum airflow, allowing it to cut through the wind with little effort.
According to exterior design manager Kirk Bennion, the Z06 was made to be as wide as the C8R race car, thus adding more air vents and lights to the outside. More side intakes means more air to feed the engine. “We found that if we can get more air out from the bottom of the car if we could extract it out from the wheel openings, that actually improves the downforce.”
The Z06’s wing shape was also designed to generate max downforce, generating up to 734 lbs of downforce at 186 mph.
A second video goes into detail about the vast selection of interior customization, ranging from stitching, choice of leathers, trim finishes, and more, adding up to over 11,000 possible customization options.
A slightly squared steering wheel was added for more than just a stylistic choice. It was meant to help drivers execute entering and exiting turns with ease.
Overall, the amount of personal tailoring for a Corvette Z06 can add up to at least $250,000. Because like the saying goes anybody who has dropped this kind of money on a car, “you get what you pay for.”
