The GT Is Officially Ford’s Fastest Production Car
The Ford GT delivers the highest top speed and fastest lap times on the track of any production car Ford has ever made. It beats out the Ferrari 458 Speciale and McLaren 675LT with a top speed of 216 MPH…that’s getting it done. The three cars used the same driver, fresh tires, and a full tank of gas in “ideal” conditions at the Calabogie Motorsports Park in Canada. and the numbers are impressive. The Ferrari 458 Speciale came in at 2:12, the McLaren 675LT at 2:10, and Ford GT topped it off with a time of 2:09. And the GT isn’t even the lightest of the three, even with its carbon fiber body. It falls right in the middle at 3,054 pounds with McLaren at 2,982 pounds and Ferrari 3,482 pounds respectively.
Although the GT pushes out 647 horsepower and 550 lb.-ft. of torque from its 3.5-liter twin turbocharged Ecoboost V6, so power and performance are to be expected. The GT has proven itself with wins at Le Mans and other track records under its belt, it is now also has the title of fastest production Ford car ever made. Not too shabby.
