The HyperLoop Project Now Has 11 Potential Routes Around The U.S.
The hyperloop project is still underway and now, a total of 11 potential routes across the U.S. have been announced, according to MotorTrend. The company who made the announcement, Hyperloop One, picked 11 teams out of more than 2,600 participants who competed in the Hyperloop One Global Challenge, with each team creating a potential hyperloop route. To refresh your memory about Hyperloop One, passengers and cargo are loaded into a pod and accelerate gradually via electric propulsion through a low-pressure tube. The pod quickly lifts above the track using magnetic levitation and glides at airline speeds for long distances due to ultra-low aerodynamic drag.
The 11 routes would cover more than 2,800 miles and link 35 U.S. cities. The 11 teams will now compete with 24 global teams to become part of the 12 finalists. After that, Hyperloop One will narrow the field down to 3 winners who will then work with the company to come up with a definite plan for the project. Hyperloop One will have a team of about 500 employees by the end of the year, so it seems this company is well on their way to making the Hyperloop soon become a reality.
