The Lucid Air Alpha Clocked In At 217MPH
Lucid’s Alpha Speed Car lives up to its name. Lucid Motors made its first auto show appearance at the New York Auto Show and brought the Alpha Speed with it. According to Motor1, when it was tested at the Transportation Research Center Ohio test track, the car hit a top speed of 217mph on the 7.5-mile track. That’s on par with the Ferrari LaFerrari. And that speed was actually with software limitations. The car performed so well, that the company now has plans to go back to the track to test it without the top speed limiting software. This makes it one of the fastest electric cars on the market if it makes it to production.
The base model starts at $60,000 and is scheduled to be on the market by 2019. High-end models will be in the $100,000 range but offer 1,000 horsepower and a 400-mile range. Is that enough speed to make you an electric car fan? Let us know in the comments.
