The Most Expensive Fox-Body Mustang Ever Sold Is This ’93 Cobra R
If you’re looking for a clean Fox-body Mustang, chances are you’re going to shell out some change. With all of these newer Mustangs out and about, it seems like people scooping up these Fox-bodies in a fit of nostalgia because it reminds them of the ’70s to the early ’90s, or maybe just because they’re cool little cars. You probably could have grabbed one for a lot cheaper a few years ago, but the popularity has made a major comeback for these old hatches and notchbacks.
One particular Fox that will likely only go up in value is the super limited 1993 Mustang Cobra R. Ford would only sell these cars to licensed racecar drivers to ensure that they wouldn’t just wind up in somebody’s car stash collecting dust. They came powered with a 5.0-liter SVT engine shifted by a 5-speed manual transmission.
This ’93 Cobra R, in particular, is taking the award for the priciest Fox-body ever sold. This car’s Vibrant Red paint has never seen water, and it has only had two owners. It was delivered to Lombard Ford in Connecticut in the spring of 1993 where it stayed until 2016 until it was sold to Jerry’s Classic Mustangs in Alabama. Only a mere 500 miles have accumulated on the odometer over its 26-year lifespan from being used at special events. It crossed the auction stage at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale where it raked in a healthy $132,000!
