Thieves Now Have A New Target Item…Side Mirrors
If you own a luxury vehicle, your side mirrors could be the next thing thieves are looking at. Stealing parts off cars and selling them for cash on the black market is hardly a new concept. However, side-view mirrors are a new addition to the parts list.
Side mirrors are now highly sought-after thanks to expensive sensory equipment to aid in-vehicle safety systems such as lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot detection. When sold on the black market for cash, they can go for as much as $1,500 to $2,000 per mirror.
The New York Post reports that 19 reports came in within an eight-week period of stolen mirrors. The mirrors being stolen are off vehicles like Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Audi.
