This 2,600 Horsepower Dodge Viper Defies Logic
It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen, and the fact that it can lay down the horsepower and leave opponents with 1,000 horsepower standing in the dust, truly, defies logic. It genuinely leads you to wonder, how much power is enough?
According to That Racing Channel on YouTube and first reported by Top Speed, there’s no such thing as too much. This Dodge Viper lays down an incredible 2,600 horsepower and 2000-pound-feet of torque in what seems to be the quest to destroy anything on wheels and breathe fire in the process.
Dodge Vipers are already incredibly quick stock, and the fifth and last generation that we see here comes with an 8.4L naturally-aspirated V10. From the factory, it lays down 645 horsepower and 600-pound-feet of torque, which is quick enough for a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds and a 206 MPH top speed. Although these are impressive numbers, they weren’t enough for the owner of the Viper, who let tuner house Calvo add some extra fangs to the already venomous Viper.
Prior to picking up the Viper, the owner had a C7 Corvette Z06, a car that’s extremely fast in its own right. However, he notes in the video that he got waxed by a Calvo car at a half-mile event, and it was enough for him to make a change. That change? The blacked-out venomous beauty known as the Dodge Viper. Obviously, stock wasn’t enough, which is where Calvo stepped in and took the lead.
As you can imagine, a car with that much horsepower needed some work, and some notable mods were stroking the engine to nine liters, twin turbos, and a sequential gearbox. With strong internals and so much displacement, you’d expect crazy numbers, but how crazy can it be?
The Viper owner brought a passenger along for the ride to experience the craziness that is 2,600 horsepower, and his reaction is exactly what you’d expect. He was blown away, at a loss for words, and at one point, he squealed like a little boy who lost his mother in the grocery store. It’s incredible and a testament to the ridiculous nature of the Calvo Viper. Given its horsepower figures, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that it’s currently undefeated in a race.
