Toyota announced that the FJ Cruiser will be discontinued in December 2022, and will give a final sendoff for the model with its Final Edition which will only come in 1,000 units.
“The FJ Cruiser rides into the sunset leaving lasting memories of one of the most iconic SUVs in Toyota’s rich history,” says Kei Fujita, Chief Representative, Middle East and Central Asia Representative Office, Toyota Motor Corporation. “The vehicle’s winning combination of off-road capabilities, style, and performance make it equally at home during desert adventures or everyday activities and provides a comfortable and dependable experience for drivers and passengers, wherever their journeys may lead.”
The ‘Final Edition’ will house a DOHC, 4.0-liter V6 engine with dual independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), which can put out 270 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The SUV will also come with useful off-roading features like Active Traction Control, Crawl Control, and electronically controlled locking rear differential.
The FJ Cruiser ‘Final Edition’ will come in a single-tone beige exterior, upholstery, and center cluster trim. Aside from having a sharp exterior, the ‘Final Edition’ will stay true to its off-roading roots when it will be rolling out in Q4 of 2022. Once all 1,000 units are gone, that will mark the end of this popular SUV.
