UPDATE: Man That Swerved To Hit Biker Sentenced To 15 Years

A while back we had a story with a video of a man that appeared to swerve and blatantly hit a biker that was trying to pass on a two-lane road. It was up for debate when the video was initially posted who was in the wrong. Although the biker was passing on a double yellow line, obviously, the driver of the car shouldn’t have swerved to hit another motorist no matter the situation. It was quite the controversial video for awhile.

Well, the 69-year-old man from Texas that was behind the wheel of the car has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was convicted on two charges from the road rage incident back in 2015.

The driver was identified as William Sam Crum. He was caught on dash cam swerving his car into a motorcycle that crossed a double line to pass him. The altercation occurred outside of Granbury, TX and both the driver and his passenger sustained injuries. There was a woman riding on the back of the bike that had to be taken to ICU of the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital.

Luckily the whole incident was caught on camera from a fellow bike rider. Once the video was posted it quickly went viral. You can hear Crum tell the camera operator “I don’t care” that he hit them. He also claimed that a bug bite on his leg caused him to swerve. Coincidentally at the same exact time the bike attempted to pass him…

Turns out the jury didn’t buy his “bug bite” story and convicted Crum on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing bodily injury. He had been held on $150,000 bail since he was arrested shortly after the accident.
