Vaughn Gittin Jr. Delivers Us the Explosive Driving Video We Needed
If you weren’t pumped up today, we promise this video will be the hype you need as the week comes to an end. Heavy metal music, drifting, big air, monstrous roars from V8s in harmony, and fire? Yes, please.
Two-time Formula Drift champion, Vaughn Gittin Jr. prefers the title of Professional Fun-Haver, and while many seek to be identified in such a manner, few can live up to it like Gittin Jr.
Gittin and his RTR Motorsports team took some Ultra4 off-road racing Ford Broncos and Ford Mustang drift racing cars to the Panthera Training Center located in West Virginia. Their goal? Tool around on the tactical driving courses used by the protective services and military to film a precision driving video. That’s when things took a turn, for the awesome.
Gittin told Fox News Autos “when we went there to kind of pre-produce and scout everything, we sat with the owner. He’s like, one thing I haven’t heard is that there’s no explosions in this. And we were like, ‘what, you mean we can do explosions?” That’s when the Professional Fun-Haver mindset took over, and the rest is history.
Gittin explained that they were shown a video of the type of inferno that could be created using gas bags. So what did they do? Integrated it into the mix of off-road and on-road driving they previously planned.
The primary sequence involved two Mustangs drifting past flames as a Bronco leaps over them across the road. Gittin was satisfied with the initial result, saying ” we really nailed it on the first time, but of course, our camera team wanted to get greedy and do it again.”
The video is promoting Gittin’s RTR brand on social media, which encompasses his RTR Vehicles business and all of his motorsports activities. The company makes parts of the F-150, Ford Mustang, and Ranger, accompanied by completely modified versions.
