We all know that the all-electric Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 is a performance beast. Just how beastly? In recent private testing, it ran a quarter-mile in 8.27 seconds at 168 miles per hour and reached 1,502 peak wheel horsepower beastly. That’s the equivalent of over three 2021 Mustang GT V8 engines.
What happens thought when you put NHRA Funny Car driver Bob Tasca III behind the wheel racing a supercharged V8-powered 2018 Mustang Cobra Jet driven by Tony Pedregon? Well the V8-powered 2018 Mustang Cobra takes the crown.
The results? The gas-powered Mustang ran 8.797 seconds at 158.26 mph to 8.826 seconds at 156.81 mph for the electric-powered Mustang. While the electric-powered Mustang didn’t beat the gas-powered Mustang, it did beat it’s electric competitor, the eCOPO Camaro which ran a quarter-mile of 9.837 seconds at 134.07 mph last year.
