What Do We Know About the Bronco Raptor?
….will it have a Raptor R option? Ford recently deemed their newest rendition of the Bronco worthy of a Raptor option, putting it in the same breath as the high-performance F-150 Raptor monster pickup they’ve become well-known for in the past several years. While this is great news, do we know anything about it?
Unfortunately, Ford only revealed a logo and a teaser image of its existence, showing Bronco Raptor will come with wider fender flares. In the big reveal, the Bronco Raptor was finished in the F-150 Raptor’s signature orange. The video told us a lot, but at the same time, it told us nothing, so what do we take from this? Well, we’re getting a Bronco Raptor – that’s what we take from it.
At this point, everything is speculation, but from prototypes spotted on public roads, the Bronco Raptor had 17-inch wheels, fitted with oversized tires and Fox Live valve shocks found on the pickup. These allow it to cruise at highway speeds, but also soar into the clouds, something the extinct Raptor’s were unable to accomplish.
Ford Authority described the Bronco Raptor as potentially having the 400 horsepower turbocharged 3.0L V6 found in the Ford Explorer ST. It could also be powered by the 494 horsepower plug-in hybrid used in the Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring. However, none of this has been confirmed by Ford, and likely won’t be if they play it the same way Toyota did with their 2022 Tundra.
In its current configuration, the Bronco offers the Wildtrack, which is its top performance trim. It boasts a “Sasquatch” off-road package and 315 horsepower with a 2.7L V6. It’ll be interesting to see what Ford decides with this as they have many options. With the latest news their Raptor will be competing with the likes of the Ram TRX, could there be a limited edition Bronco Raptor R? It would be pretty sweet, and we’re putting it out into the universe for Ford to hear.
