What You Can Expect In The Camaro ZL1 1LE
Chevrolet just revealed the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE that is essentially a mashup of the current ZL1 and the last-gen Z/28. The package will be offered as an option on any 2018 Camaro ZL1 coupe beginning this summer, which results in a 3-second quicker lap time around GM’s Milford Proving Grounds. If you’re wondering what kind of engine upgrades this package includes, you’d be surprised to learn that the ZL1 1LE actually uses the same 650HP LT4 V-8 as the standard ZL1.
All of the engines happen OUTSIDE of the engine bay, which includes replacing the stock 285-Width tires with 305s in the front and 325s in the rear. The tires are Goodyear’s new Eagle F1 Supercar 3R specifically designed for the new 1LE, which is the company’s first cup tire design and the widest ever to appear on a factory Camaro. Other upgrades include weight saving DSSV spool-valve dampers, a carbon fiber rear wing and lots of other exterior upgrades. It will only be available in a 6-speed manual transmission and as for pricing, nothing has been announced yet but it’s rumored to be above $63,000, which is the price for the standard ZL1 coupe plus several thousand for the 1LE upgrade.
