Woman Renews Drivers License Online, Receives ID With Picture of Empty Chair
The DMV is notorious for long lines and the occasional error. And you’re not alone if they’ve taken an unflattering picture of you to slap on your license. However, this is a new one. Jade Dodd recently renewed her license in Hickman County, Tennessee and when it came in the mail on Thursday, it wasn’t what she was expecting.
Dodd pulled the ID out of the envelope to find an ID featuring an empty blue chair where her face should be. All the information was correct, however, a photo ID isn’t much good without…a photo.
Local news channel WKRN reports that the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security said the error happened when the wrong image was captured and saved to Dodd’s profile.
“The lady at the DMV did not really believe me when I was like hey, I need my license fixed,” Dodd said. “Then, she looked it up in the system and goes, ‘oh, I need my manager for this.’”
The department said this is the first time this has happened. Dodd isn’t mad that she has to go fix the issue but actually thinks the whole thing is funny and her friends and family are getting a kick out of it. She has since received a new (correct) license.
