Yes, Honda Did Just Make A Civic Type R Pickup Truck

But unfortunately, it was just a one-off. The fifth-generation Civic Type R is built in the UK, and some engineers over there decided to take on a special project. It turned out to be the Type R pickup and it will be used for Honda UK’s voluntary race team, Synchro Motorsport.

The color on “Project P” is Rallye Red and was built for the UK’s annual Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) Test Day. Honda’s power tool masters changed pretty much everything from the B-pillars back, but kept the all-important wing.

The truck is estimated to complete the 0-62mph sprint in under 6 seconds at a top speed of over 165 mph since it’s is basically a standard Type R sans hatch. Go further by engaging +R mode, and it should also be the fastest front-wheel drive pickup on track, which is something Honda may end up taking to and letting run wild at the Nürburgring.

Like we said earlier, there are no plans to put the Civic Type R Project P into production, but Honda UK will use it “to transport Honda’s lawn and garden products as and when required.”
