You Can Now Buy A 1,000-HP Chevy Tahoe Or Suburban
Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE), the GM supplier that builds the Yenko cars, has brewed up one heck of a family hauling sleeper SUV. Need to get to the grocery store in a hurry? Want the ultimate soccer mom mobile? Chevrolet dealerships are now offering a 1,000-hp Chevy Tahoe or Suburban.
SVE will build you a high-horsepower SUV that starts out as a rear-wheel drive Suburban or Tahoe equipped with a 5.3-liter V8. Once they get their hands on it, that small V8 is snatched out and replaced with a stroked LT1 motor with a final displacement of 6.8 liters. It is complete with forged steel crankshaft, forged steel H-beam rods, forged aluminum pistons, CNC-ported high-flow LT4 cylinder heads, a custom supercharger, 8-rib belt drive system, upgraded fuel system, and a stainless steel exhaust from the headers back. Shifting all of this power will be a capable automatic transmission.
Also, an upgraded suspension is optional. If you opt for it, sport springs will adjust the height two inches in the front and three inches in the back. Fancy 22-inch wheels are also an option and come wrapped with Falken Ziex tires. And if you’re feeling super stealthy, the factory paint can be covered with a satin paint finish.
SVE doesn’t just offer one package, though. You can get the “Stage 1” for a milder 810-hp or get the works with “Stage 2” with 1,000 ponies and 875 lb-ft of torque. A 3-year/36,000-mile warranty covers the engine and supercharger, and the transmission is given a 12 month/12,000-mile warranty.
